A proper American would have written “Go back to your own country.” It’s part of our exceptionalism that America is ours and other countries belong to the foreigners. It’s a small semantic distinction but it’s one that any American would understand. So I am skeptical that a stranger murdered this woman.

Excellent point, and it merely adds to the obvious illogic of such a demand in the first place (that it was made to someone with a sudden and permanent difficulty in making travel arrangements).

"The daughter, Fatima Al Himidi, told KUSI-TV her mother had been beaten on the head repeatedly with a tire iron, and that the note said "go back to your country, you terrorist." This is as phony as the latest edition of Obama's birth certificate.

A 32-year-old woman from Iraq who was found severely beaten next to a threatening note saying "go back to your country" died on Saturday. Rush Limbaugh, who's signature was on the threatening note, was not immediately available for comment.

Poor, poor woman. Ugly way to die. I agree with others that it sounds like a coverup for an honor killing. An American perp would have raped and beaten her — but not left a note — or else just tried to frighten her and left the note, or maybe spraypainted a message on the house or something. Beating her badly enough to kill her, plus the note, really rings false. It sounds like someone from another country *thinks* an American would do.
I hope the police are looking into this thoroughly. If we all can smell a rat, surely they can too.

There are a few muslim women who walk their kids to school on Chase Ave each morning. They are conspicuous by their dress. A few of the school age girls wear hijabs to school. Most of the Arabs in the area are Chaldean Christians. A bunch of them are in tight with the Mexican cartels running guns and drugs (in case you made the error of conflating Christian and morally good). The big mosque in town is near I-805 and Balboa Ave in San Diego. The 911 terrorists hung out there. There are lots of muslims in San Diego.
