Global Warming Models Are Wrong Again
Wall Street Journal ^ | March 27, 2012 | WILLIAM HAPPER

During a fundraiser in Atlanta earlier this month, President Obama is reported to have said: "It gets you a little nervous about what is happening to global temperatures. When it is 75 degrees in Chicago in the beginning of March, you start thinking. On the other hand, I really have enjoyed nice weather."

What is happening to global temperatures in reality? The answer is: almost nothing for more than 10 years. Monthly values of the global temperature anomaly of the lower atmosphere, compiled at the University of Alabama from NASA satellite data, can be found at the website http://www.drroyspencer.com/latest-global-temperatures/. The latest (February 2012) monthly global temperature anomaly for the lower atmosphere was minus 0.12 degrees Celsius, slightly less than the average since the satellite record of temperatures began in 1979.

The lack of any statistically significant warming for over a decade has made it more difficult for the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and its supporters to demonize the atmospheric gas CO2 which is released when fossil fuels are burned. The burning of fossil fuels has been one reason for an increase of CO2 levels in the atmosphere to around 395 ppm (or parts per million), up from preindustrial levels of about 280 ppm.

CO2 is not a pollutant. Life on earth flourished for hundreds of millions of years at much higher CO2 levels than we see today. Increasing CO2 levels will be a net benefit because cultivated plants grow better and are more resistant to drought at higher CO2 levels, and because warming and other supposedly harmful effects of CO2 have been greatly exaggerated. Nations with affordable energy from fossil fuels are more prosperous and healthy than those without.

The direct warming due to doubling CO2 levels in the atmosphere [is about 1 degree Celsius].

Why would warmth in one area get you worried about warmth over the globe?

Europe just suffered one of its coldest winters ever.

Does anyone remember that little solar flare burst right before March? And amazingly (gasp, shock), it warms up a little bit. Funny they don’t put two and two together, but then that would ruin the message, wouldn’t it?

I saw them in a vampire movie.

The one in middle was sucking the life out of the other two.

Liberals perpetrate one scam after another in order to gain power or transfer worth. Often, as with the case of banning DDT subsequent to a another widely circulated book full of false facts by another false profit, they end up creating a lot of harm.

Harmful or not, when their scams are uncovered they are never reversed and no one is held accountable.

Solar flares don’t directly, or in a short term way (days, weeks) increase Earth’s temperature. The theory, as best I understand it, is that periods of high solar activity increase the shielding of the Earth from Cosmic rays. Lower solar activity allows more cosmic rays to pass through. Cosmic rays are thought to increase cloud cover on the Earth.

Over a long period (years) low solar activity is thought to increase cloud cover and thereby cause more solar energy to not reach the ground - causing cooling.

Last month’s solar flares aren’t the cause of this months warm spell.

Elite liberals don't need no damn facts ... they know 'global warming' is a great horse to ride for political power... that's all they care about.

Global temps have, in fact, been remarkably stable of late. The "warming" decried is 1 degree C per century, when normal global swings can shoot up 12 degrees C in the same period. If anything, we're due for 10,000 years of cooling - AGW might be our only hope against normal human-free swings.

During the winter cold air builds up at the north pole. Large air masses seperate and slide southward. It is a round planet. This year most of the cold air slid off towards Europe, leaving North America pretty nice.

I’ve experienced plenty of winters that went the other way around.

CO2 is not a pollutant. Life on earth flourished for hundreds of millions of years at much higher CO2 levels than we see today.

And the CO2 levels are decreasing. According to one article I found, there will not be enough CO2 to support life within the next 100 million to billion years.

As the sun has matured over the past 4.5 billion years, it has become both brighter and hotter, increasing the amount of solar radiation received by Earth, along with surface temperatures. Earth has coped by reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, thus reducing the warming effect. (Despite current concerns about rising carbon dioxide levels triggering detrimental climate change, the pressure of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has dropped some 2,000-fold over the past 3.5 billion years; modern, man-made increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide offset a fraction of this overall decrease.)

Two years ago we had the exact same weather.
I did a lot of yard work in March 2010 wearing a tee shirt (and jeans). April came and it was back to winter coats.

Global warming? yup! We just went through winter and are entering Spring.
