China-N.Korea Communication Breaks Down
High-level communication channels between China and North Korea have apparently been shut down since the death of former North Korean leader Kim Jong-il. Pyongyang is failing to inform its sole ally of important developments like the upcoming missile launch.
The only high-ranking Chinese official to visit North Korea since Kim's death was Vice Foreign Minister Fu Ying, who was in Pyongyang between Feb. 20 and 25 to discuss aid to the North. Fu met his North Korean counterpart Kim Sung-gi but did not speak with higher ranking officials.
China was stunned by the announcement on Feb. 16 of the launch plan for what the North says is a space rocket and had to summon the ambassador to China late at night to protest. Wu Dawei, Chinas chief delegate to the six-party nuclear talks, then met with North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho on Feb. 19 when Ri was visiting Beijing. There are rumors that Ri also met with State Councilor Dai Bingguo, who outranks Wu.
But North Korean officials dealing with China are only working-level bureaucrats, making it doubtful that Beijing's concerns over the North's missile launch were expressed to the highest echelons of the North Korean regime, according to experts.
China has through various diplomatic channels tried to hold talks with North Korea, but the North is apparently rejecting the requests saying it is still in mourning for Kim Jong-il.
All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near. Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him.Given the bad shape that US intelligence is in, it is just not possible for me to believe any of this at face value.
I can agree that they will always end up in a same team.
Personally, I’ve always felt the chances of a NORK-developed Nuke someday going off in Beijing are much higher than the chance of it going off in Los Angeles.
Something is definitely up in NK. You know things are bad when they turn down 240,000 TONS of food during a “[socialist] famine”. They are up to something.
for what its worth they seem to have more defensive (anti-tank?) apparatus facing north than south.
Probably something bigger than the island being shelled and the Cheonan being sank I think. Hopefully not too much bigger. SK response to the island shelling was far too limited and hands-tied. Most NorK citizens never noticed a thing.
Make them notice.
Even if its a limited attack, again, put cruise missiles into the offices of the Communist Party, KCNA and maybe knock down a big statue. lol.
Something the NKorean masses will notice.
I can see the whole script like a panorama.
Yes. With people like Obama and company around, I can definitely see that happening.
I’d set up a system where one guy gets to punch a button and all of the important communist party, military headquarters, commie media and favorite palaces of the Kims all get wiped out as soon as they cross the DMZ.
I’d even let them know this was set up.
If NK knows that any response by SK to their aggression will be limited and wimpy they are more likely to attack. The worst thing that could happen to NK leadership is to lose face.
Making sure some big, important buildings and landmarks go down (Pyongyang and other cities) if SK is attacked would have a psychological effect that NK cannot handle. It might even cause North Koreans to resist immediately afterwards.
If your scenario happens the “good guys” in SK need to make a stink. They need a military that can stop and repel attacks and then strike back, deeply and in ways to cause real harm to the NK government.
The SK army, air force and navy all have the capability to make any attack on their country a devastating blow to the NK government pysche. All NK has is their propaganda, and their “prosperous new year” crap will make the blow even worse.
BTW- Taking out the radio jammers and NK radio stations and broadcasting on those frequencies will also make a big impact. South Korea’s forces are large enough to make all of this a small part of their response if attacked. It is something they SHOULD be prepared to do.
Take it the NorK government if they attack. Show the people of NK that their government is not nearly as strong as it pretends. Hit them where it hurts. Taking out a few key bridges and stuff would cripple their already weak economy.
I don’t think NK’s government could survive losing face to its serfs like this.
Taking out a few artillery sites does NOTHING, saying mean things at the UN is meaningless, griping to the Chinese Ambassador is a joke.
