The bigger tragedy is the political abuse of the situation by wire service journalism and by journalism’s fellow travelers whom the journalists award the positive labels “liberal” or “progressive” or “moderate.” It is irresponsible and, by design, dangerous. The danger is intentional because it forces the public to listen in horror.

(Art.) Most homicides are intraracial, but the chance of a black being killed by a white or Hispanic is much lower than the chance that a white or Hispanic will be killed by a black. Seventeen percent of what the FBI calls “white” homicide victims in 2009 were killed by blacks, compared to 8 percent of black homicide victims who were killed by “whites.” There were two and a half times as many white and Hispanic victims of black killers in 2009 as there were black victims of white and Hispanic killers, even though the black population is one-sixth that of whites and Hispanics combined. If Hispanics were removed from the category of “white” killers of blacks, the percentage of blacks killed by Anglo whites would plummet, since a significant percentage of what the FBI calls “white”-on-black killings represent gang warfare between Hispanic and black gangs.
In a Scientific American article from the mid-90's that also relied on DoJ/FBI statistics, the FBI used the category of "unknown" to mask the racial identity of 24% of the murderers who killed white and Hispanic victims during the multiyear rampage of the 80's and 90's connected to the advent of "rock" cocaine.
Looking at other, similar categories of violent crime in which the victim by definition survived, offered insight as to who the mystery 24% were ..... they were black.
Wonder if the FBI is still concealing statistically-significant numbers of black murderers behind the shield of anonymity?
But what is there is bad enough, though.
Absent the cocaine wars, which have now died down for the nonce (until they are resuscitated by some other irritant, and come to revisit us in some other form), it would seem that the murder rate has also died down, but the sociopathic end-results of socialism are still there for everyone to see.
I doubt Obama really wants him convicted or arrested. As long as he's out there, Obama and his orcs have their hate-puppet, their Goldberg.

Zimmermann was also in lethal danger at that point, even discounting his account of Martin's threats. Losing consciousness (head on concrete) means losing control of his weapon to someone who's already working on beating him to death. "Use it or lose it". He was on the verge of going out.

If you've followed Raila Odinga's career, you know that the brothers over in Africa haven't been doing too well, either, following the advice of Barack Obama and his half-brother. Lot of them are pushing up daisies like Trayvon.
And regardless of Zimmermann's personal penury (assuming the inventive Crump couldn't find a way to rope in the well-to-do father), what may be wanted is instead a political trial with Republican Florida at the defendant's table, and the Stand Your Ground doctrine as prosecution Exhibit A.
The McGuffin will be the liberal wet dream, "Hateful gun-crazed Florida country-club crackers wrote a Murder Law to kill black children!"
Will take a look. I'd seen the archive caches of Trayvon's "no-limit-nigga" webpage (the one with a pic of him flipping the camera the bird: he doesn't look very angelic in that photo, in fact he looks pretty hostile), but didn't linger over them or chase links into his further wamblings in the social-networking alternative universe.

They're 'flooding the zone' but they've revealed a lot more than their lawyers would have liked.
I tried looking up 2000-2010 armed-robbery stats at DoJ Crime stats site but they're using a high-numbered release of Acrobat (they're up to Acrobat 10 now). My Acrobat Reader v. 5.0.x just tells me the file is "damaged" and can't be opened.
I wanted to look again at some crime categories other than homicide (robbery, aggravated assault) and see if the huge number of "unknown" assailants in the homicide breakdown is analyzed, but funny thing, they don't seem to analyze violent street crime that way, exceept for homicide (where they can hide).

IF Mr. Zimmerman was having his head smack into concrete and generally plummeled by Master Martin....then I think it would be aggravated assault by Martin against Zimmerman???
Maybe that first paragraph was intended as a tease for any lefties that scan National Review Online. It's almost a mea culpa, then they read those appalling statistics which I never see in the drive by media or the lefty house organs.

23% + 35% = 58% I'm in NYC, I was born here, but I don't know off the top of my head. Hispanics are probably a majority of the 42% remainder, but we also have loads of East Asian Orientals, Arabs and Indopaks. You name it, we probably got some.
I noticed that you recognized later on in the thread that the opening paragraph was awful. Good. If there was ever a non-policy time to excerpt an article, you have to admit in retrospect that THIS was that time.
I've been mostly lurking here since around 2006 when I stopped my more active posting started blogging more. You post much good stuff. Maybe next time, when you have a hot article full of useful info, use your better judgment and do FR and your tireless efforts here the favor of excerpting Ms MacDonald so that any good stuff she presents will be focused on and not derailed again.
Be wary my FRiend. Less and less in the paid media are trustworthy. More and more there will be little that can be taken at face value. Fear of reprisal and other reasons to be circumspect will cause such things.
