McCain: I think Palin should be the VP nominee
Hot Air ^ | APRIL 4, 2012 | TINA KORBE

Posted on 04/04/2012 7:11:17 AM PDT by RobinMasters

Yesterday, Sarah Palin emphasized in her interview with Matt Lauer that whoever becomes the GOP nominee should not play it safe in his selection of a vice presidential running mate. She declined to answer outright whether she thinks this year’s VP nominee should have more experience on the national stage than she did in 2008, but she did say she thinks the presidential nominee should “go rogue” with his pick.

Former GOP presidential nominee John McCain backed up those statements today with this:

On CBS’s This Morning, McCain, the 2008 GOP nominee, was asked whether he agreed with his former running mate that Romney should ‘go rogue’ in picking a vice president.

“I think it should be Sarah Palin,” McCain answered, laughing. And while he did not backtrack from that statement, he did say that there was a “wealth of talent” in the GOP field, including Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.

It’s an interesting proposition. She’s far more seasoned than she was in 2008, with a loyal fan base that would be incredibly energized by her presence on the ticket. But would she accept? She declined to run for the presidency herself, maintaining that she can have more influence as a media presence than as an actual candidate. If she worried she wouldn’t have enough influence as the presidential nominee or the president, then she surely wouldn’t be satisfied with the level of influence the vice presidential nomination offers, even if it was her launching pad to the fame she now enjoys.

He was indeed joking. The video tells the tale. He thinks Sarah is a joke.

Romney is in a worse position with the base of the party than McCain was in 2008.

I won’t vote for him and won’t even consider changing my mind unless a real outside like Palin or Rand Paul were on the ticket.

"Looks like you want obama."

BZZZZZZT....WRONG.

I don't want Obama, nor do I want Obama-Lite (Romney-the-RINO).

Unlike the people who will vote for whom they're TOLD; I'll stick to principle and vote my conscience.

(The [R] voters, who the GOP-e counts on EVERY election to vote for whomever the GOP-e decides is the Candidate) have the same principles as shown below:

Didnt McCain lose to Obama in 2008?

The Palin VP card would not work again for McCain's buddy Romney, You can only play that card once and she is no longer a mysterious unknown, even if she had any desire to run for an office again, which she doesn't.

"I am still not convinced that Romney will be the nominee. Kissenger promised China that Jeb Bush would be the president in 2012."

Jeb Bush will never be President of the U.S. He couldn't even save Terry Schiavo, so how could he possibly ever recover from that?

GOP Elite... she plays the “common touch” card so that she can ride a bus across the country and appear on the TODAY! show. She is trying to “distance herself” from Washington, when she isn’t a political opponent to anyone seated in Washington. This “us vs. them” card that she plays is interesting when one remembers that she was a REPUBLICAN governor, a REPUBLICAN VP candidate and has declined to run again. She didn’t wrap herself in the Tea Party and run on that platform because it isn’t viable.

But she is going to be at the GOP Convention in Tampa, isn’t she? She’s even said she’d campaign for Romney should he be the GOP nominee. She hasn’t rejected the GOP, she just wants people to think she has.

She disappointed her followers when she refused to be that “fresh new face” that challenged political wisdom. Why anyone dreams about Palin’s political career rising this year or in 2016 is puzzling. That hasn’t been on her radar for a long, long time.

McCain knew he was reinforcing her loss on his ticket when he said that Romney should pick her. He broadcasted the message, “Vote for the loser, Palin!” And he laughed. Just like when he called himself and Huckabee “the losers” when they sat on the curvy couch on Fox and Friends together.

I always said that if someone really believes that she would beat Obama as she said she would on the cover of puff-piece Newsweek getting them and the MSM all worked up for nothing, then intellectual honesty would require that they also believe that she threw the race to Obama (if Romney loses) for personal reasons.

I never believed she would run, I always said she knew better, used to get cursed for speaking the truth on that too.

Nope. I’m certainly done with McCain. And I’m also done with her. She had her chance and led us on. Frankly, I’ve got better things to do than play her games.

Being cursed for saying the truth.

Console yourself with the knowledge that without her combatting crony capitalism Obama couldn’t have signed the STOCK Act into law.

Palin for VP would be a much better choice that Rubio who spends his time ‘crafting’ a GOP bill to fast track illegals for citizenship.

At this point....Romney could choose Ronald Reagan as his VP.....and I wouldn’t yank the lever for him. Unless we get a solid Conservative as president....it’s the end of the game at this point anyway.

Romney has a terminal problem with base of the party. Most are smart enough to recognize that if RomneyCare had never happened....ObamaCare would not have.....for starters.

Romney is Obama’s caucasian mini-me.......most, given a choice between Pepsi and Pepsi-lite...will choose Pepsi. It’s why RINOS don’t win national elections.
