Does Romney have a 14-Million-Man Army ready for General Election? (Vanity)
April 6, 2011 | no dems

Another FReeper, in another posted comment, just this week, stated that his Mormon neighbor was obsessed with getting a Mormon, Mitt Romney, elected President of the United States. That statement has "stuck in my craw" ever since I read it; which begs to question:

If Mitt Romney is the GOP Nominee for POTUS, will the 14 million Mormons in the U.S. mobilize for him during the General Election? Hmmmmm....... Just wondering. The Mormon Church not only has a lot of "foot soldiers", but they know how to "mobilize". They've done it for decades.

Do not underestimate RINO-Rom in the GE. He's hungry. He's been running for the White House for 6 years. He, and the LDS Church have mega bucks. The Marriott Hotel Chain, for example, is a Mormon corporation; just to name one. And, the Primary season proved he will stoop to anything to win. Unlike McCain, he just might be capable of getting as "down and dirty" as the DemocRATS. And, I must say, it's kinda refreshing to see a Pubbie who will not bend over for the street-wise Dems like most Republicans do. Maybe there are some 'nads inside the "Magic Underwear".

“I admire your sunny optimism no end.”

I always try to see the silver lining on the mushroom cloud. After all, if it weren’t for gallows humor sometimes there would be no humor at all.

So, you think Romney is as equally disgraceful as Obama?

Yeah, I do. He was the FOUNDING FATHER of both Obamacare (which was modeled after Romneycare) and gay marriage. He raised taxes and fees $700 million in Massachusetts. He packed the court with rabidly pro-abortion, pro-homosexual judges.

You tell me how that isn't as disgraceful as what Obama is doing.

You, apparently, are contention to blindly vote Republican without doing a sliver of research on who you're voting for.

Any truth to the rumor Sir Thomas More told “Yo mama is so fat...” jokes before his beheading ?

Mormons follow their leaders, historically, in all matters....

Romney needs them....

if he can muster their support, and they give it to him, I have no doubt we'll have a landslide against bamey boy...

to what price, we don't know....

He may well be. I think he will lose some southern states that would have supported ANY of the other GOP candidates.

It wouldn't surprise me at all. I think that a lot of nominal Christians are going to be shocked when they begin to learn about Mormonism and a lot of Republicans (like nodems) are going to be dismayed when they learn of Romney's real political record and Romney takes his predicted leftward turn in the general election. Republicans are likely to stay home in droves. All Obama has to do is avoid sprouting horns between now and general election and he's back in thanks to the GOP-e, the Romneybots, and their sycophants.

I think that your analysis misses the mark for a couple of reasons. For every Mormon who votes for Romney because he is a Mormon, there are multiple Christians who won't vote for Romney for the same reason. There won't be a big influx of new Mormon voters since most Mormons vote anyway and usually vote Republican. Finally, there just aren't that many Mormons in the U.S. even if you believe their inflated membership numbers.

If Romney's Mormon faith can mobilize a huge GOTV effort by 14 million Mormons for Republicans, we should welcome it.

Yes, by all means...

RELEASE THE OSMONDS!!!

Yeah. Conservative Republicans are just boiling over with enthusiasm for Mittens.
Yep.
And if I’m not doing something urgent like folding my socks on election day, I might even go vote... for the down-ticket candidates.

I try to be nice to them. They are polite. Jehovah’s Witnesses too. They are trying to save your soul. They may be wrong but their intent is good.

I like the Jehovah Witnesses. Years ago they used to visit my house regularly and I would have them in and they would sit on my couch and tell me stuff. Really nice people. They always had little pamphlets, and sometimes they gave me real books.

Then one wintry day their van got stuck in the snow down near the end of my driveway, on the other side of the creek where the driveway curves and goes uphill to the road. There were bunch of them in that van and they were stuck there for awhile. Finally I saw a tow truck come and winch them out. They never came back after that.

Please see my Post #64 which will reply to your concerns. Also, I don’t know how old you are, but I remember 1964 when LBJ trounced Goldwater. (I was a Junior in H.S.) They said Conservatism was dead and would never be resurrected. When Gerald Ford got the nod over Reagan in ‘76, they said: “That does it for the Conservative wing of the Party; it’s finished.”

Now, Please read my Post #64. Thanks.

You would try and force me and others to compromise our conservative values ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I don't know how old you are, but I was fighting for Conservatism during the Goldwater years. But, I know this: This year we truly have to hold our nose one more time and vote for the "lesser of two evils" because this beloved Republic of ours will NOT survive four more years of the Marxist Muslim in the White House. I'm not trying to force you to do anything. I don't really care what you do. And, I'll put my conservative values up against you any day.

isn’t it a GOOD thing if the Mormons mobilize to help Romney beat Obama, the democrat?
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Of course!!! I’m not against the Mormons, or anyone else, mobilizing to get the Marxist Muslim out of the White House.

Your point #3 in your Post #84 describes Rick Santorum to a “T”. I’m a Newt guy, but if Rick could have stuck with the issue that matter, and known when to STFU, he might have won this nomination. But, Rick Santorum became Rick INSANEtorum and blew the Conservative’s last chance for 2012.
