Nebraska’s new abortion law forced one woman to give birth to her terminally ill, premature baby who she then helplessly held dying in her arms.
Danielle Deaver gave birth to one pound, ten ounce Elizabeth last December and could do nothing but hold and comfort the baby with her husband, Robb, as the newborn struggled to breath and died fifteen agonizing minutes later.

So they were praying to have had the ability to abort the baby instead of letting it be born naturally. I find it hard to feel sympathy here.
Show me 10 of those. Show me 100 of those. Show me 1000.
You cannot justify 50 million dead babies on the basis that a woman in Nebraska went through a difficult experience.
Abortion is wrong. It cannot be justified.
This was a premature delivery. The law is designed to stop late term abortions for non-medical reasons. The law is good.
I don’t understand why a foetis cannot be anesthetized before a necessary abortion.
The death of a baby is tragic, whether it happens after the baby is born or before. It’s easy to imagine that you could have spared yourself they agony of experiencing it by having an abortion, but then you wouldn’t have had the opportunity to hold the baby tell her how much you loved her. When thing get really tough, it’s best to count your blessings, no matter how difficult it may seem to find them.

I don’t understand why they weren’t able to put the child in an incubator.
What doesn’t get said is that abortion increases the likelihood that women will give birth prematurely because one of the complications is incompetent cervix. And premature births are becoming more and more prevalent. As much as this family hates what happened to them, the truth of the matter is that this law will help prevent other women from having to deal with children born too soon to survive.
Having my daughter stillborn at 42 weeks gives me an understanding of what the family went through. Right now they’re probably working through the blame/guilt phase but later on they will cherish the photos they have of their child and both they and any future children they might have will be comforted to know they loved that little one to the very end.
No amount of finger-pointing or rationalization will ever bring back the life that was stolen from this innocent baby.
What about the rare case of a baby that survives an abortion?

Lungs develop last in a baby. An early birth, without suitable medical care, means death.

It’s good that they were not allowed deliberately to kill their child. I hope that they realize this someday - that *not killing* is best.
Our church’s prayer chain was praying for a child where the mother was extremely toxemic and every day was literally the difference between life and death for the baby. I’m not saying it happens every time, but this case had a positive outcome; they were able to hold off the birth until the child could survive in an incubator and this January the parents took the baby home.
One reason that we always made sure we had a pro-life OB/GYN was so that we never had to worry that the doctor would give up on life when there was still room for hope. We would not have given birth in a hospital other than a Catholic hospital. And with our first being stillborn at 42 weeks for unknown reasons, we had to use hospitals with a NICU - a lot of which are Catholic hospitals because they do value human life.
I wonder where this baby was born.
So... we should have slaughtered it like an animal instead? That would have been more humane than letting the child breathe and have a chance?

If they’d had the abortion procedure it could have been either torn limb from limb or burned alive in saline ... and the poor things wouldn’t have had to undergo the agonizing experience of watching it suffer.
I think they are looking to *blame* someone, to relieve their own guilty feelings. Seems as if they would have aborted the baby,no matter what.
If they had decided to abort the baby as the article says, that tells us this was not at a Catholic hospital.
I doubt that the law prevents anybody from administering pain meds to children in the womb. I wonder if the docs at this hospital were more geared toward the agenda of protesting this law than about serving this family.
