If you’re happy and you know it, you probably live in one of these countries. The U.N. has released a new list ranking countries in terms of happiness, based on Gallup polls taken from 2005-2011.

The top 5 are:

  1. Denmark
  2. Finland
  3. Norway
  4. Netherlands

  5. Canada

There’s definitely a pattern here.

Study conducted by Columbia is saying that nations that lack diversity are happiest.

Also, nations that have National churches.

And nations that are 90% plus one race- white.

Liberals are such racists.

I guess the “jelly beans” in America aren’t very happy. I wonder why.

U.S. might have been one in the 1950s.

I'd say it's numerical in descending order.

Sorry. Socialists in Socialist countries say they are happy but have nothing to compare their existence with. I lived in a Socialist country. I was VERY unhappy. I KNEW what I was missing. My freedom. My freedom to excel at my own rate without the Government keeping me down. These lists are nothing but an attempt to convince Americans that other countries are happier than we are and we should try Socialism if we want to be happy, too. NO THANKS!

My sister married a Dutchman...they lived in Amsterdam for over 10 years then moved here. They both wish they’d stayed in Holland. My brother in law’s brother is now nicely retired and having a happy life - he was a fairly famous scientist in his field - the sister is also not working and has a villa in Tuscany. Meanwhile my brother in law - who has a PhD - is not only smart but also a very hard worker - just got laid off again.

I can understand the point of view my sister and her husband have given their experiences.

However, the US isn’t Holland, what with all our give aways to other countries, wars in far away places, funding of takers who have no intention of ever giving back....etc. Life would be different here if it hadn’t fallen on our shoulders to be the big dog of the world....not to mention our own very expensive corruption problems.

It’s a UN list - ‘nuf said.

Wonder if people from any of these “happiest” countries were offered instant, automatic U.S. citizenship - think they’d turn it down?

No, of course not.

Good times. The 80s weren’t bad either really nor the 90s terrible. Clintoon made me scream at the television but he was mostly neutered by the congress.

You didn’t read my post. The answer is yes, they’d turn it down.

My 1/2 Dutch niece and her fiancee plan on moving to Holland as soon as she graduates. They want outta here.

We’re trying to hire an Australian pilot who has a Polish wife and she’s literally afraid for her safety to come here - afraid she’ll be shot.

For reasons real and imagined - we’ve got some big problems.

I make more money now than I ever have and ironically am happier too.

Not having to sweat the small stuff like replacing tires and the ridiculous power bills like I used to takes a lot of weight off of one’s shoulders.

They'll be fine until the next time Germany needs to conquer France.
