Why We Need Voter-ID Laws Now
National Review Online ^ | 4-9-12 | John Fund

Posted on 04/09/2012 6:27:32 AM PDT by afraidfortherepublic

Attorney General Eric Holder is a staunch opponent of laws requiring voters to show photo ID at the polls to improve ballot security. He calls them “unnecessary” and has blocked their implementation in Texas and South Carolina, citing the fear they would discriminate against minorities.

I wonder what Holder will think when he learns just how easy it was for someone to be offered his ballot just by mentioning his name in a Washington, D.C., polling place in Tuesday’s primaries.

In Washington, it was child’s play for O’Keefe to beat the system. O’Keefe’s assistant used a hidden camera to document his encounter with the election worker at Holder’s polling place:

Man: “Do you have an Eric Holder, 50th Street?

Poll worker: “Let me see here.”

Man: Xxxx 50th Street.

Poll Worker: Let’s see, Holder, Hol-t-e-r, or Hold-d-e-r?

Man: H-o-l-d-e-r.

Poll Worker: D-e-r. Okay.

Man: That’s the name.

Poll Worker: I do. Xxxx 50th Street NW. Okay. [Puts check next to name, indicating someone has shown up to vote.] Will you sign there . . .

Man: I actually forgot my ID.

Poll Worker: You don’t need it; it’s all right.

Man: I left it in the car.

Poll Worker: As long as you’re in here, and you’re on our list and that’s who you say you are, we’re okay.

Man: I would feel more comfortable if I go get my ID, is it all right if I go get it?

Poll Worker: Sure, go ahead.

Man: I’ll be back faster than you can say furious!

Poll Worker: We’re not going anywhere.

Note that O’Keefe’s assistant never identified himself as Eric Holder, so he was not illegally impersonating him.

Nor did he attempt to vote using the ballot that was offered him, or even to accept it.

Local NBC station in FL did one better. Their local reporter obtain a list of jury duty letters the county sent to voters for jury duty. Many came back excused because they claim they were not US citizens. The reporter took their names and compared it to the county voter registration list. Name and addresses match and the non citizen voted in several elections. The reporter went to the homes of these voters to confirm and it was. Many of them registered during the voter registration drives or thru motor voter registration. Many claim that they were unaware that non US citizens cannot vote, but they knew that they can be excused from jury duty. The reporter found up to 100 illegal registered voters thru this process. If the GOP gets donations from their supporters, they better get their butts in gear to weed out these voters and use it as grounds for voter ID laws.

This isolates, freezes and ridicules Holder. Using some Alinsky rules for the good of America.

Florida has a voter ID law. I’ve worked the polls and know. A Florida voter must present a DL at the polling station (although poll workers are instructed they are to make sure the name and address matches but not to compare signatures). The problem is motor voter. It was inherently corrupt and needs to be abolished.

That is awesome. Has Eric Holder been made aware of this???? This should be done to all Administration officials early in the morning, before they come to vote.

Illegals in Florida are often afraid to call the police when they're victimized - they try to keep a low profile.

They sure as hell aren't going to risk voting illegally.

The old style of 'cheating the vote' was to vote those people who DID NOT show up at the polls - sign their names - fill in the ballots for dems. The reason some precincts would take so long to get their votes in was they had to wait until the number of votes needed for 'the win' was calculated. Excess votes in a tight race would call attention to cheating. So numbers were kept close.

Listening to Chris Plante discuss this right now. The recording is amazing. “I’ll be back faster than you can say ‘furious’.”
