The Colorado Senate this morning passed a Pueblo lawmakers bill that would create a discount rate of college tuition for illegal immigrants who attended high school in the state.
...
Opponents contend the bill would create an incentive for illegal immigration to Colorado. They also argue that it presents students with false hope because they would not be able to work legally in the country until they attain citizenship.
The bills passage in the Democratically controlled Senate was not a surprise. Its first true test will come next, when it is heard by a Republican House committee. A similar bill last year died at that stage.

Since this bill would disproportionally effect Latin Americans, isn’t it racist?
That’s the reason we’re not tightening border security isn’t it?
Pandering to illegals with taxpayer money.
the bill rewards illegal behavior
A better idea: wrap their degree inside a snicker’s candy bar and charge them a nickle for it.
This country is headed for third world status!
What the heck is wrong with these people? Do they actively desire anarchy?
Democrats dont understand the meaning of illegal
This is in reference to the Feb. 11 front-page article in The Daily Sentinel titled, 500 illegal immigrants likely to benefit from reduced tuition rate. The Associated Press article goes on to say, Colorados Democratic Senate gave preliminary approval Friday to a measure that would set a new tuition rate for residents who are illegal immigrants.
My question is: What is it about the term illegal Democrats dont grasp?
The thought process with Democrats seems to be encourage illegal immigration, then at some point down the road grant blanket amnesty thus ensuring a reliable voter bloc.
My perspective may be somewhat unique in that Im a former Canadian, now U.S. citizen, who attained my citizenship the old fashioned way legally. I served three years active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps, as a Canadian, during the Vietnam era.
A few years after receiving my honorable discharge, I applied for U.S. citizenship. After the requisite background check and taking the citizenship test, I was sworn in as a U.S. citizen in Denver in 1974.
Encouraging illegals makes a mockery of those who chose the traditional legal path to U.S. citizenship.
As a footnote, not part of the above article, Denver the capital of Colorado is designated a 'sanctuary' city.
I think I’m going to be sick. I’m stressing out thinking about how I’m going to afford school for my kids. Maybe I should just renounce my citizenship and go this route.
Disgusting.
“What about AMERICAN KIDS? We pay thru the roof for school taxes, and our kids don’t even go to the public school!!!!!
This country is headed for third world status! “
Exactly. I get ticked every time I hear a discussion about how awful it is when illegals are deported because it’s separating families! Well here’s a newsflash for those who whine about that -
EVERY FELON SENT TO PRISON IS SEPARATED FROM THEIR FAMILY! When you break the the law and go to jail, even as a U.S. Citizen you are separated from your family. Why should this protected class be any different? I don’t get it.
Criminals getting even more breaks.
Representatives of the Democratic [sic] party regard law as applicable to everyone but themselves.
Get out of Colorado fast.
Tell them to follow all laws or rules or else. Tell them to get jobs and start paying taxes, so illegals can get their rewards, prizes and free healthcare.
Must be nice Colorado - no crime, excellent schools, coffers overflowing with surplus cash, economy booming...Now you finally have the time and funds to spend on gifts for illegal aliens. What a generous state. Can I have a pony?
It better die in the House. Didn’t the Senate just kill voter ID?
Just go along with it. Keep paying your taxes to support these millions of illegal aliens.
Get back to work!
EVERY FELON SENT TO PRISON IS SEPARATED FROM THEIR FAMILY!
great statement!
