Trayvon Martin: Attorneys say Zimmerman contacted prosecutor, Sean Hannity
The Baltimore Sun / The Orlando Sentinel ^ | April 10, 2012 | Jeff Weiner and Hal Boedeker

The two men who have been George Zimmerman's most outspoken defenders, attorneys Hal Uhrig and Craig Sonner, said today that they're off the case.

"On Sunday, we lost track of George, in that he would not return our calls," attorney Uhrig said. Said attorney Craig Sonner, "I've lost contact with him at this point."

The lawyers had been publicly representing Zimmerman, the Neighborhood Watch volunteer who fatally shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, in the media as calls for his arrest continue to grow.

But they said Tuesday that Zimmerman — who, they say, has left the state — has stopped answering their phone calls, and has made a series of decisions that the two lawyers would not have advised.

The lawyers said Zimmerman called Sean Hannity of Fox News without consulting them. He also called the special prosecutor in the case, something the attorneys said they'd never have told him to do.

"We were a bit astonished," Uhrig said. He praised Special Prosecutor Angela Corey's office for declining to speak with Zimmerman without legal counsel.

Asked about Hannity's interactions with Zimmerman, a Fox News Channel spokeswoman said the issue "will be addressed on Hannity's show tonight." The show, "Hannity," airs at 9 p.m.

Uhrig added that he thinks Zimmerman is going through post-traumatic stress and is "largely alone...

Just a hunch:

puts up a website to raise funds, then no contact with attorneys.

Perhaps he needs $$ to get out of the country. Can't say I blame him. When a public bounty his put on your head, and no one does anything, kinda tells you where we are these days. I'd be looking for an underground railroad outta here.

There’s a difference between saying Zimmerman DID not return calls, and he “WOULD” not return calls, which implies the lawyers know he received the calls and was making a deliberate decision not the call back.

- How can they possibly know this without speaking with him?

- While it makes Zimmerman sound worse, it gives a the lawyers an excuse for dropping their client (it wouldn’t sound that good if they dropped him because he DID not return their calls).

Anyway, assuming that the only thing they know is that Zimmerman did not return their calls, I don’t think I’m being too picky with words by saying they should not have said he “would” not return their calls. Am I?

The New Black Panthers have been calling Zimmerman a Jew but is there any evidence that he is of Jewish descent? The name Zimmerman(n) is sometimes Jewish, sometimes not. This Zimmerman is a Catholic by religion. He has a brother who is a “Jr.” and his father is still alive—I believe the custom among Ashkenazi Jews is not to name a child after a living relative.

It has been reported that Zimmerman is a devout Catholic, so he won't kill himself.

If the local prosecutor doesn't bring charges, Holder could bring some kind of "civil rights violation" case against him just to make him appear in public so he can be targeted for assassination. After Waco and Elian, I wouldn't put anything past a Democrat Attorney General.

What's really criminal is these two mouthpieces pulling an Gloria Allred and holding a just-dandy microphone/camera-laden press conference on the glorious green grass concerning their former client and his perceived shortcomings.

"Zimmerman really should listen to counsel".......??????

Maybe he IS listening to and following orders from counsel right now, just not THESE two blabbermouth clowns.

We don't know WHY George is no longer communicating with these guys....maybe for good reason.

We fault the media for jumping to conclusions...let's not jump all over Zimmerman when we DON'T KNOW what's been coming down between him and his former counsellors the past 48 hours or so.

At a critical time in the very life and breath of George Zimmerman who may be in deep hiding, these two sterling representatives of the Bar are out in front of the mikes doing everything to blab away for their OWN benefit, not for the benefit of and to protect a former client and a human being who may be in desperate circumstances.

Great ethics, guys, great ethics. I think they're ticked that a golden opportunity for ongoing national fame and resultant fortune has just slipped out of their hands.

I also wonder if he’s been cleared and is in some type of protective program, like witness protection.

From everything I have read Zimmerman’s father is Jewish. If he is not observant in any way to Jewish customs and traditions then he would follow his mother’s religion which is Catholic.

You’re kidding? Just how did they violate the attorney-client privilege? They gave no details or even discussed Zimmerman’s case.

They said they’d lost contact with him, and since breaking off communication, Zimmerman has made two serious public communications errors for someone in his position. They are withdrawing. That becomes a matter of public record the second the withdrawal motion is filed in the court. No attorney-client privilege involved.

But they said Tuesday that Zimmerman — who, they say, has left the state — has stopped answering their phone calls, and has made a series of decisions that the two lawyers would not have advised.

These lawyers are violating the attorney client privilege. If a client does not follow the advice of his lawyer, the lawyer cannot then go on national television and announce it to the world. They are duty bound not to reveal what their advice was and not to reveal whether or not their client took their advice.

These Bozos should have their licenses to practice law suspended.

The interesting thing about Mr. Zimmerman is that he identifies as a minority tribal member of the perferred and celebrated brown color and hence, votes for the anti-whitey Demonrat party. Black Race hate is all fun and games until it spins out of control and comes after you.

Given how he’s been racially and politically indoctrinated, why would he trust these real racists he has encounterd, to give him a fair trail. I might try to escape if I were him, too. It’s not real smart in American-American reality; but he has been shoved into the mentality of socialist tribalism. He’s been indoctrinated as a foreign race man rather than an American-American white man who knows a thing or two about the criminal justice system of the constitution.

I bet his socialist father, the Dem. judge legal activist, is not capable of helping him think outside the box of political correctness.

Still, there was no violation of the attorney-client privilege as they said nothing about the case.

At this point there is no "case". By publicly revealing that Zimmerman is not following their advice and then publicly revealing that he is not returning their calls, they are revealing privileged information and prejudicing their client's interests. They were ethically bound not to say anything to anyone about anything without their client's permission. Obviously this public announcement was not authorized by Zimmerman.
