Trayvon Martin’s mother Sybrina Fulton told the TODAY show Thursday that she believes her son’s fatal shooting by George Zimmerman was an accident.

“I believe it was an accident, I believe that it just got out of control and he couldn’t turn the clock back," she said.

Hoping to salvage a plea bargain to involuntary manslaughter?

Whether parents are sweet or not has no bearing on a case.. Jeffrey Dahmer had sweet parents, too.

Then why mention it? As it has no bearing on the case.

And why only "justice for Trayvon" and not justice period?

I’m a bit worried about this one. If Zimmerman succumbs to the temptation to “do the generous thing” and apologise for “the accident”, wouldn’t that leave him open to some sort of “negligent homicide” charge, “reckless use of a deadly weapon” charge , or some such thing? The prosecution (who may be seeing the writing on the wall) may be making a play for a lesser charge like that...

I thought it was unusual she asked everyone to pray for the Martin Family.

Being 'christian' is pretty unusual, these days.

Hmmmm.....”I apologize for pissing Trayvon off causing him to attempt to murder me, and furthermore, I apologize for defending myself during the attack. I should have let him kill me, I am a horrible horrible person.”

I blame the racism on the President. Not on this aggrieved mother.

Obama has his share of the blame, but Trayvon's parents went and hired that "civil rights" lawfirm to stir up all this strife. All these "community leader" appearances and widespread protests - don't assume this all happened spontaneously. Someone was coordinating this.

Those lawyers made quite a name for themselves - expect to see them involved in subsequent cases where some black thug gets killed by a non-black.

Corey or whoever she punts this to will have to produce evidence and argument that establish it is more likely than not, that Zimmerman did NOT act is reasonable fear of death or serious injury.

The fix is in-Zimmerman is toast. The state, the judge will do whatever as this is a political trial and not a trial for justice--exactly what is seen in a socialist country. Jurors will be intimidated, and won't want to be seen on TV as "holding out for whitey". The proceedings will be a sham to try to avoid race riouts.

“Ny feeling is the States Attorney has a couple of underreported facts/circumstances that give her a really stong case against Zimmerman under Florida Law and Zimmerman is as innocent as Mumia Abu-jamal.”

Pulled that out of your ass didn’t you?

That is some risk although your anyalis(sp) was probably part of the states decision.

You dont charge somebody based on what the mob may do, but on the evidence. It appears this is what has happened.

Now mommy says it was an accident? Also I understand that Ms Corey met with the Martin family when she was first appointed. This is totally improper.

Justice for Trayvon? How abt justice for Mr. Zimmerman.

Geez what a mess.

Which would make me think he was "skittled" out of his mind.

Right...If an autopsy was performed and Trayvon was tested for and found to have had high levels of drugs in his system, then this might have also influenced the Mom.

Could be.

The system isn't known for being wise, or honest. At least we'd get to see the names of a few of the corrupt ones.

This obviously has zero legal implications, but it’s very interesting nevertheless. I’ll be curious to see how/if Sharpton, et al react to this.

“Accidents” of course, can still be criminal, but it’s hard to square an accident with a second degree murder charge.

But you’re right - a little late to try to cool off the mobs now...

Apparently she has more sense than the special prosecutor who went off the deep end and overcharged Zimmerman.

If Trayvon had drugs in his system what impact would that have on the prosecution? If he did, wouldn’t the prosecutor know that?

I tend to agree with this scenario. Would the prosecutor make a half hearted effort at the same time the evidence is presented so to make sure Z gets acquitted?
