Does Romney Still Need to Court Conservatives? (File Under LOL, ROFL)
New York Times ^ | April 12, 2012 | Staff

With his strongest conservative challenger for the Republican nomination, Rick Santorum, now out of the race, does Mitt Romney still need to appeal to the conservative Christian voters who were energized by Santorum? Or is he now free to begin courting the broader spectrum of voters he will face in November?

I hadn't noticed this apparently new New York Slimes section they post on their Editorial pages entitled "Room for Debate" getting opinions from across the political landscape for hoped for lively discussion on a whole host of issues.
Seeing the title of their most recent edition "Does Romney Still Need to Court Conservatives?" had me LOL, ROFL, making me realize just how absolutely clueless they really are over at the Slimes.

Those people live in their own little world and have no idea about those of us who totally reject their views.

Anyone hear what Sarah Palin just said about Mitt on the Hannity show?

Many here must now list Sarah Palin as a worthless RINO.

Vote as if it’s the last chance you’ll ever have to vote and make it count for something.

Holding your nose and picking the least of two evils doesn’t count.

Palin said Newt needs to stay in the race.

She also said Ron Paul needs to stay in the race.

She said discussing their ideas is helpful.

Holding your nose and picking the least of two evils doesn’t count.

Thumpity-thump bump for your post.

Man, did you ever nail it.

Here in Texas, the GOP will carry the State without drama, so there is some freedom for disaffected conservatives to vote CP or LP or some other splinter-party; as I told someone on the Texas board, the GOP-E will notice a ballooning CP vote faster than they will notice a GOP undervote, with people leaving Willard's box blank.

Texas yellow-dog Democrats, many of them still segs, will vote for Asmodeus and Belial before they vote for either a Mormon bishop or a black-racist Communist. They'll stay home.

Other States, of course, will have other calculi.

Personally, I'd prefer Romney lose a 50-state sweep, but the GOP get 68 seats in the Senate. Then both Willard and Obozo are gone, and we get to campaign against a fill-in Biden incumbency while Tea Partiers and conservatives in the congressional wing of the GOP blow out all the clubby, closet-case, Bushoid-Me Too'er-Rockefeller RiNO trough-pigs for good.

Either way, we the People get screwed. It matters not if he keeps up the pretense of being a conservative for a bit longer, or if he trends quickly to his left-of center true self. Our product is damaged. We need to keep up the fight in the hope of hopes that God smiles on us and events lead to a CONSERVATIVE choice. Newt...Newt...Newt...

Personally, I've decided that I'll do my part for making sure that the RNC understands that I will no longer vote for a candidate just because there's an (R) beside his/her name.

The days of voting for the "more conservative" (ie "least Communist") candidate are over! The days of voting "against" the Democrats are over!

If you want my vote, then you'll have to earn it by nominating a candidate who I feel will govern the country in a manner consistent with my ideology, which is conservative ideology.

I am tired of the Republican establishment assuming that my vote is "in the bag", because I have no other alternative. I have zero faith in Romney to govern in a manner consistent with my beliefs, as he has waffled and flip-flopped on too many issues, far too many times to count! The man has no core beliefs, other than getting elected.

This year, I will be supporting genuine conservative candidates on the undercard, but I will not pull the lever for Mitt Romney -- period!

Romney’s instincts are all liberal and now that he has no need to appeal to the GOP base, he’ll show that he really is an Etch-a-Sketch by going back to his roots.

I have a good Senate candidate and a GREAT House candidate, so most of my efforts will be going there.

[The man has no core beliefs, other than getting elected]

Right, so you would rather have Obama destroy the country completely for the next 4 years because you are just too detached from reality to understand that Obama also has strong “core beliefs”.

Since you make that the primary criteria for awarding your vote to the lucky candidate who is worthy of your piety, you should vote for Obama. Since that will be the likely result of your campaign to destroy the only chance we have left, to save the country.

In the military, we have a name for those who give aid and comfort to the enemy; we call them Traitors!

Traitors? Time to take your meds.

I don't want either Romney or Obama to destroy the country, but the beliefs of those two are similar enough that the country would continue on the path to destruction if either wins.

The only hope is for the conservatives in Congress (which are mostly R) to hold the line. They won't hold the line against a liberal R president, but sometimes will against a D president.

Gridlock looks like the best bet for the next 4 years.

Remember it was Bush who gave us NCLB and Medicare part D, and Clinton who was forced to reduce welfare. Beware the liberal Republican.

First of all, lighten up......Nixon was going to "destroy the country", as was Carter, Clinton, and Obama. Heck, Reagan was supposed to blow up the world in nuclear Armageddon.

I most definitely won't be voting for Obama. But likewise, I'm sick of being offered a choice between a radical Socialist (D) and left-of-centers (RINO's).

I pulled the lever for GHWB (twice), Dole, GWB (twice) and McCain.

Admittedly, the Dole, first GWB, and McCain votes were more votes "against" the (D) candidate, than for the (R) candidate, but again, I'm SICK of being offered these terrible choices.

I want to vote FOR someone who espouses conservative values.
