What was really amazing here on FR was to watch all the toadies - who bashed Newt like crazy back last summer when only a few of us supported him -

I will tell you something worse. I warned that the dirty politics on this forum by those that attempted to elevate Newt by ridiculing Santorum was a mistake that would only help Romney. Now we have an offended group to assuage and it was totally unnecessary. No one knows where his delegates will go, but I doubt this forum brought a lot of them into Newt's camp.

I would be thrilled with Newt because I have been around longer than he has, so I know his career. I would also have been ok with Santorum because I thought I could know where he really was on an issue, neither perfect, but both more than acceptable.

I will not be voting for Romney period.

“Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost.”

-- John Quincy Adams

"Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual--or at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country."

-- Samuel Adams

I got a donation call from the College Republicans earlier today. They asked me if I feared Obama’s re-election. I said yes and then qualified that with “but I also fear Mitt Romney’s election since he’ll steer the Republican party even more to the left.”

After explaining that I wouldn’t donate unless my money would be used to educate young voters about the corrupt liberals in BOTH parties, the caller got steamed, accused me of being an Obama supporter (?) and hung up.

I’m convinced that the Republicans and their satellite organizations are equally not worth supporting. From here on out, I support individual candidates, not a party.

I have my principles and I'm going to keep them.

I see nothing in Mitt Romney that I will sacrifice my principles for.

The CP is run by cut and run Ron Paul disciples.

True. But the formerly grand old party is now run by Romney disciples.

Re:Andrew Breitbart.

The candidate has not been chosen yet.

There is still a choice.

I choose Newt, because the other person running, the so-called “front-runner” doesn’t have a Republican or conservative bone in his body.

It is my FU to the GOP-E.

Somehow, I think Andrew would approve.

You're right. Politics is all about compromise. And that FRiend, is what brought us to the brink of socialism.

And you know what? I don't have the stomach for compromise anymore, I'm voting the for the principles that built this country - not the “compromise” that is destroying it.

Kick me off your site if you must, but by November your comments today will sound pretty silly. Bank on it. I voted against Mitt in the primary, but we as conservatives don’t look for saviors. We do well enough on our own, running our own individual lives. Just give me the candidate who can win — given where we are now —but will interfere with my life the least of those who can win. Like it or not, that’s Mitt.

should not use litmus tests.

That's just stupid.

1854, abolititionists formed the Republican Party.

I use a litmus test against slavery. I don't like it. Then, or now, like the arabs in Somalia practice it, or the arabs in Saudi Arabia.

I use a litmus test against killing babies. Whether unborn (or, more recently) actually born. I consider that evil.

I use a litmus test to determine whether or not a candidate supports my God-given right to self defense.

Get over it. Your position is as liberal as the DNC.

I AM WITH YOU 1000%! IN FACT... LET THE ROMNEY-BOT PURGE BEGIN.

Indeed. It seems like a great many people, even on this thread, are itching for the zots to come their way. Everyone who says they will hold their nose and vote, everyone who thinks that voting third party is a vote for Obama, everyone who uses scare tactics to try to sway Freeper opinions is asking for it.

Mitt Romney is a fake.

**

I will admit right here and RIGHT NOW — I need to do some more background reading on Romney.

When I hear him talk, it’s like this — (you could see this also as playing Devil’s advocate). He will sometimes convince me that he did what he did as governor because he had to deal with SO many Democrats in his legislature — that he “tried” to be a conservative, but it was impossible.

I know, I know ...I’m probably highly ignorant, and don’t know and don’t take the time to learn all I should.

Can anyone enlighten me or point me to some good succinct reads where I can understand how this was NOT the case?

He is talking such a good line now, that SO many fall under this hypnotic trance.

I want to really, really know — WHY did he vote and legislate the way he did in Massachusetts? Was he really doing his “best” to be a conservative, but just get railroaded ....or is he TRULY a big time liberal??

Don’t throw stones. Please. I’m just TRYING here ...TRYING to learn.

And I support Newt anyway, 100%. To tell you the truth ..Romney just bores me, and I guess I don’t do all I can to learn what I should.

Thanks.

Are you conservative or are you political?

I don't compromise my conservatism with the politics of homosexuals.

You guys can insult me all you want

No one needs too, you insulted yourself. Romney is evil and you embrace a PRO HOMO and PRO baby killing candidate. One can't get any lower - evil always pulls another down to it's level.

Live with it because that stain doesn't wash off and you are left with no values. So don't come here pushing your evil candidate on us - live in your misery ALONE!

How ‘bout this “litmus test”. YOU MUST NOT BE A LIBERAL SOCIALIST!!!!

Is that easy enough for you?
