If this is a repeat post, I apologize. The shooting was on April 12, but I haven’t seen anything on here about it.
This happened 2 days ago. Does it take that long for news to travel from Alaska to Boston?
I just said: it happened two days ago. I have not seen any mention of it on here in the time since it occurred. I also apologized if it is a repost.
It was here yesterday, were still waiting to find out why and who, 24 hours later still nothing.
I hope this isn’t a love triangle that includes a Polar Bear who get’s away scott free. I hate that when it happens.
I’ve been looking for updates on this story, and haven’t had much luck.
It does appear from some other reports that they have decided this is a double murder, and not a murder-suicide. That means there is still a perp out there somewhere.
It is still on the news here. I will try to keep up with it.
Whachawannabet the two dead are a male and a female. That would explain the reticence about identities with a slip-up mentioning the murder suicide angle. It would be an all too predictable result of sexually integrating the armed forces. Homosexualizing the military will soon begin to add huge new layers of Drama to that.
RIP.
The interior of the island was ruled by the Kodiak Bear, the largest of all bears. Kodiaks usually stand 12 to 14 feet tall when they are angered. This bear is nothing you want to encounter — ever. USCG Station, Kodiak, was a very nice facility. The Coasties were very friendly and locals had a warm and symbiotic relationship with them. Often, the USCG was the only resource the sick, injured, and shipwrecked had for immediate assistance. Search and rescue missions from CG Kodiak were a daily occurrence.
The area is beautiful, like all of Alaska, but it is a rugged and unforgiving beauty. Life is hard. Everything is expensive because it is either brought in by ship or air. Locals may work several jobs to get by. Housing is expensive. And, there is virtually nothing to do on “the rock”. Life on Kodiak is boring, with little to entertain (as most folks know it). There is a lot of excessive drinking and drug abuse that is at its worst in the winter months.
It will be interesting to see how this double homicide or murder/suicide turns out. I haven't seen a lot of reporting on this since it first hit the wires.
I took a fairy to Kodiak from Seward in my youth. It’s all you say and I quickly went broke there.
Amen. This is such shocking news. Our Coast Guard in Alaska is cherished. I hope their families and loved ones can find peace.
I think you mean "ferry." LOTS of difference. Alaska's Marine Highway is unique. And we have the only railroad owned by the state. For something belonging to the govt. it runs pretty well.
Local TV reports 2 males. Inside a secure facility.
That handles all the comms for the USGC in the north pacific.
Nothing to see here...
Yes, I meant “ferry”. I wasn’t THAT adventurous in my youth.
