LIMA, Peru -- A Peruvian court is reported to have approved the extradition of convicted killer Joran van der Sloot to the US, where he faces charges connected to the suspected murder of American teen Natalee Holloway.
Dutchman van der Sloot's extradition from Peru -- where he is serving 28 years for murdering business student Stephany Flores -- was approved Monday, Radio Netherlands Worldwide and United Press International reported, citing officials and Peruvian media.

Or the pursuit of ratings, more minutes of fame, and the money that follows. Anything that can stir up ratings among the couch potatoes is worth gold in this country. Ka-ching! The USA has zero jurisdiction over an Aruba murder.
I wonder how many episodes Greta is going to devote to this upcoming trial?
Say whaa? Why would anyone want him to have air conditioning, a workout room, access to the internet, no rats in his cot????
What we DONT know is who helped him.
His sweating judge father, who is still sweating today where he is.
The George Zimmerman precedent would indicate that they don't need jurisdiction, they just do whatever it is that the people screaming the loudest want.
Apparently they want to let him go.
Looks like a lot of people didn’t read the article! He is being charged with extortion in the US, not murder.
I think his father died.
The charge in the US would be extortion not anything related to Natalee's disappearance. He promised to tell Natalee's family the location of her body in exchange for $250k and they wound up giving him $25k. That's the basis of the charge.
I agree with those who ask what the benefit of this is, though. Let the creep rot in Peru. And then toward the end of his term extradite him to the US, try him and sentence him to another 25 years. I'm not sure the statute of limitations would permit that though.
If there was ever an example of a sociopath this guy is it.
Nancy Grace is pumped.

Ihave NO idea about the jurisdiction. If it’s Alabama or not.
He needs to sit in that Peru prison and get his treatment from those inmates.
I’m not sure that he killed Natalie Holloway. He gambled a lot and no doubt owed lots of money. A beautiful blonde American female would bring big bucks and I believe he drugged her and sold her to sex slavers from Venezuela (which was a 30 minute boat ride from Aruba). That’s why no body or remains was ever found.
This is a dfferent charge. This charge that he is facing in the US is extortion. He tried to extort money from the Holloway family to reveal the location of Natalie’s body.
However, I’d just as soon that he be tried in abstentia. He’s such a creep that I don’t want to take the chance that he might escape here.
Extradition to the United States is exactly what he wants. Three hot and a cot in a superior facility to anything in Peru.
The US has jurisdiction due to the wire fraud he committed against Holloway’s mother who was a resident of Louisiana at the time he defrauded her.
I guess I’ll be taking out the bottle of Pisco again.
If he were charged with murder under Federal law, he could conceivably be executed.
If only....
If Bill Clinton had a son he would look like Joran!
