Voting for Romney (D-Mass.): The Worst Mistake a Conservative Could Make
Country Thinker ^ | april 7, 2012 | Ted Lacksonen

Posted on 04/30/2012 9:14:40 AM PDT by Mozilla

Why am I so passionate today? Well, most readers who visit here know the country is in deep doo-doo. I’m here to tell you that voting for Mitt Romney (D-Mass.) will not change that fact and may make things worse. I will explain two things. First, Romney (D-Mass.) is the presumptive Republican nominee precisely because he will do nothing to improve our country’s fortunes. He is the chosen one because he will maintain the status quo. That is what the GOP machine has chosen him to do.

Second, you cannot “take over” the Republican machine and turn it into something in decent. I have made that statement before, but I’m going to describe the machine in greater detail. Keep in mind that this is information I have obtained from current and former GOP insiders. Everyone on the inside agrees that the Party has been constructed so it cannot be taken over. They have also constructed a political system so the political duopoly is very, very difficult to challenge. (Republican insiders HATE political freedom, like so many other freedoms.) Whether that’s a good thing or bad thing is a matter of judgment. For conservatives and libertarians it’s bad. For establishmentarians it’s wonderful.

Finally I will explain why voting for Romney (D-Mass.) is the worst thing you can do, regardless of whether you’re a “principals” voter or a “strategic” voter.

If you are not one hundred percent convinced that I am correct in those statements, you absolutely must read the rest of this piece and tell me where I’m wrong. I know I’m correct, and I can assure you that if you vote for Romney (D-Mass.) it will be the greatest political regret of your life.

Would a Conservative VP pick sway you?

In truth it did when McCain was at bat. I thought picking Sarah Palin was brilliant. I did change my mind and cast my vote for her, and McCain did benefit from it. But even though McCain was not nearly as liberal Obama (or Romney), he still could not win --- even with Palin dragging his dead weight toward the finish line. This is one of the reasons I don't believe Romney can beat Obama with or without my help (a third place liberal primary loser just does not defeat an incumbent liberal president). But to answer your question, a brilliant VP pick could sway me as it has before. But let's remember that Romney's team was responsible for lampooning Palin. I don't expect much from him. He'll probably be instructed to pick Rubio or Jindal in order to blur the partisan line on Obama's ineligibility.

You are basing your decision on Romney's past.

Yeah, what a stupid method for evaluating a candidate. /sarc.

Libertarian party???? Are you serious???

I love the part of the article where they quote Nick Gillespie. I would think the openly gay Gillespie would be a bit of a problem for most conservatives.

This is a Libertarian party article. Today and for months we had both Libertarians and Constitution party jerks attempting to win for Obama. Hopefully, no one buys it.

Why not concentrate on electing the most conservative congressperson you can?

Agreed, like most here I voted for Palin.

And the whole Bush, Romney, Rove & RNC establishment really do look down their nose at Conservatives.

So, we'll see I guess.

My vote will at least cancel that of a Dem dead.

Maybe that's how xx thousands could rationalize it.

Nullification !

Yours is NOT a vote for Romney . . . it's a weapon against another instance of the inevitable election fraud.

Imagine that things have gone soooo downhill that that almost seems a reasonable argument !

Don’t bother with this Constitution Party Flying Monkey Brigade. They’re here for one reason...promote the non-relevant CP. Turning the country back over to Obama is not a problem for them. They never stop attacking and they never stop lying.

Not THIS time!!! It won't work a second time. Perot vaccinated us against the great Third Party Lie. Take your Obama Re-election Campaign back to Hell.

Thank you, TC. Though this front line may divide us, regardless of who wins in November, I strongly suspect we'll be in the same trenches shortly thereafter. And I'm glad to share a foxhole with you. Stay strong and keep up the good fight. Lord knows we'll need FRiends with conviction in the time to come.

I’ll never be a liberal.

Excellent. Then it should be easy for you not to vote for one.

Not when the alternative is a Communist revolutionary.

When did the democrats become the party of conservatism? I think you are confused.
