The supreme irony is that if Perot hadn't gone nutso in July 1992 and then dropped out, only to get back in mid-October, he most likely would have won in Nov. He had a solid lead in the mid-40s% range in most polling across May and June of 1992, which is more than enough to net you the needed EVs in a three-way race.
Indeed....
Please give some consideration to Virgil Goode of the Constitution Party.
Virgil Goode will do in Virginia for the Republicans what Ralph Nader did in Florida for the Democrats.
Virgil Goode won't get more than a fraction of a percent of the vote nationwide. However, in his home state of Virginia where he served as a congressman and has name recognition, he could pull 5%. A five point handicap to Romney in this alternating red/blue state will be devastating. If the Republicans lose Virginia, Obama will be President for four more years.
Think about it.
I may see that elusive unicorn but won’t be winning any lotteries. Last lottery I entered and won was the Draft.
Nice to have hope about Palin, though; isn’t it? One of my more pleasant thoughts.
OMG!! What part of his background did you overlook that you so easily believe his known lying tongue and flip flop ways - it permeates his background!
Correction: Had George H. W. Bushs not broken his No new taxes pledge, Bill Clinton would not have been elected.
Thanks.
>>Our last Civil War didn’t prevent national elections; this one will because of the utter chaos in the Democrat-controlled cities will prevent it.<<
There won’t be any weapons in the cities? Just who is going to be protecting these Democrats/communists?
I plan to. That's why I'm voting for Virgil Goode.
Oh wait, you meant I could only vote for the more conservative candidate from among the narrowly circumscribed set of candidates that you would like to restrict me to.
Even then, it's hard to tell from between Obama and Romney which is the "more conservative."
There is less incentive for a presumptive President Romney to care about that after being elected, though he ought to care about it at least for the sake of getting re-elected.
Anyhow, part of the Tea Party’s weakness is the lack of a nationally heard voice. Maybe there ought to be a Tea Party Network, if enough dollars can be drummed up to found one.
At the least, I’d urge protest voters to write in Sarah Palin.
If you haven’t seen it then you haven’t been paying attention.
That’s a great post.
BUMP
We’ve been looking for a George-Washingon-type of President every since Read My Lips Bush. There is at least one potential candidate that fits the bill but has been blocked at every turn from getting in the Republican primary process this go-around.
I am too old to vote out of fear. The election in Nov. is a perfect opportunity to rid ourselves of the GOP-Whig Party. Romney knows he is killing the GOP, I know it and I know he knows I know it and he expects my vote. Think about it yourself.
Look. If you want the zot - keep pushing your FURP agenda. And in the meantime - consider what JR thinks of Paultards.....
By the way, same with Ron Paul. His insane foreign policy would be a threat to us and to our allies. He's not going to do well outside of Iowa anyway. Spam monkeys be damned!
NOBAMA!! NO PAUL!! NO ROMNEY!!
Yes, Ron Paul is a whackjob nutcase Alex Jones truther. All 911 truthers can go straight to hell as far as Im concerned. You too if you push that crap.
Post that nutjob crap here on FR at your own peril. Im hereby giving the mods the greenlight to whack your account if and when you go over the line posting Ron Paul/whackjob truther nuttery.
Jim -- what's your stance toward FReepers like me who would like to actively campaign against him and urge readers/lurkers to consider voting third party in order to reject liberalism at the top of the party, and risk the possibility of Obama's re-election? I think people vastly overestimate Obama's threat to their freedoms, especially in a context of more conservatives elected to Congress and Obama winning a weak plurality (because of conservatives' rejection of liberal Romney) and entering office with a clear majority of Americans opposed to him.
In other words, as long as I keep it civil, is it okay if I campaign against Romney on FR?
Thanks, Jim.
The blame falls squarely on the GOP-E and their bashing conservatives (Rove, et al), dirty tricks, and mid-game rule changes.

I would think that Boehner needs to go, as well as the RNC leadership. That would be a good start towards taking back some ground.
I don't think they believe they need to go after conservative votes to win.
First, they know many conservatives will vote for Romney just to avoid a second Obama term.
Second, The current resident of the White House has been such a disaster, it should be a 40+ landslide for any GOP candidate.
Romney is going to win this thing. The only question is how much dirt he's going to kick in conservatives faces after he wins.
