NEW Man dead after shooting in Walla Walla

WALLA WALLA -- The Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting death early this morning at the New York Store, 2254 Isaacs Ave.

Deputies were dispatched to the store at 2:30 a.m. on a report of breaking and entering with a shooting.

When deputies arrived, they found Cesar H. Chavira, 22, on the opposite side of Isaacs Avenue on the ground with a number gunshot wounds.

Chavira was declared dead at Providence St. Medical Center at 3:24 a.m.

According to Walla Walla County Undersheriff Edward Freyer, the preliminary investigation indicates Chavira was shot a number of times with a shotgun by the store's owner, who Freyer declined to identify.

The New York Store is owned by longtime area businessman John T. Saul.

I left NY in 1977, but at that time the plug and three round limit was only required for migratory birds. Five (or more?) round magazines were fine for pheasants, rabbits...and feral humans.

I'm not a lawyer and I don't play one on TV, but my understanding is that IF you are hunting, you have to plug it to only three rounds. If the gun is at your house or you are not hunting, you can remove the plug.

This law most likely varies by state, so check your local ordinances.

I say: I'd rather be tried by twelve than carried by six.
