To be replaced I’m sure, by a a knee-slapper over Watergate or Iran-Contra or evil Dan Quayle or dumb Sarah Palin....

It is not clear why the skit was scrapped.
"Phone call from David Axelrod to Chairman of Comcast" good a guess as any.

It was scrapped because it contained the one element not allowed on SNL under any circumstances: It contained humor.

Won’t it be GREAT after November, when SNL can make fun of the New REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT, without fear of losing their jobs, ending their careers, being black-listed, and looking for new jobs in the Obama Economy?
SNL might actually be FUNNY AGAIN!!

Instead of the skit, NBC opted instead to air a parody of Fox News Channels Fox and Friends. That skit, which also featured Armisen, mocked Fox News personalities by portraying them as clueless partisans. There's a surprise! Irony is so...ironic.

How can this be posted in creaking news or current events? The story is at least 30+ years old.
The last democrap SNL actually went after was the idiot peanut farmer, and even then it was gentle. Since then it has been completely one sided.
Come to think of it, that must be why I stopped watching SNL about 30 years ago.

SNL? I thought they died when Belushi and Ackroyd left.
