Obama is his mother’s son (WaPo sad hagiography alert)

....She was a woman of many names. Born Stanley Ann Dunham, she assumed, as most people did, that her unusual first name was imposed by her father. An uncle tells a different story, attributing the choice to Madelyn Dunham, Stanley Ann’s mother, who as a small-town Kansas girl yearned to emulate Bette Davis, the sophisticated actress she saw on the big screen at the air-conditioned Augusta Theater. While Madelyn was pregnant, Davis was starring in a movie in which she played a female character named Stanley. (As it happened, no two people could have been less alike than Madelyn’s daughter and this film character, who was cruel, cunning and racist.) Stanley Ann became Stannie Ann in grade school, Stanley in high school and, finally, Ann in adulthood. Her last name changed as often, from Dunham to Obama to Soetoro to a final spelling of Sutoro.

By any name, she was a searcher....

Just in time for Mother's Day, the Compost offers up this breathy hagiography of third-world commie Stanley Ann by the same author doing 0bama campaign duty in a recent Vanity Fair article that conjured up an old girlfriend of Barry's in a last gasp attempt to verify our hero's alleged heterosexual bona fides.

One of things I love about FR is that FReepers will use terms like “hagiography” — and know what they mean.

Yup. Like I’ve said before, Obama is a Red Diaper Baby.

Excerpt from article: (As it happened, no two people could have been less alike than Madelyn’s daughter and this film character, who was cruel, cunning and racist.) At first I thought they were referring to Obama!

If you can get through the article - not easy, it's like wading in treacle - you can't but come come away with the impression that lonley, brave, brilliant, searching Stanley Ann was some sort of secular saint and she raised her lad to bring wisdom and goodness to the less enlightened.

A bigger pile of rubbishy nonsense it would be difficult to imagine. It's the same kind of garbage written about the Kims of North Korea, and for the very same purpose by our PRAVDA media.

True, but there's no need to be cruel to Helen Thomas and Hillary Clinton.

Do the lips of David Maraniss ever turn blue from all that servicing of the President around the clock 24/7/365? And does he use kneepads?

Not many Presidents have a mother who was once lovingly known as “Anarchist Annie”.

If Mommy Stanley was so important, so instrumental in his life, why wasn’t his autobiography named “Dreams From My Mother”?

It’s hard when your Mom dumps you off at Toots when you’re 6 yrs. old.

Well, I’m pleased to see that after the expose on candidate Romney’s 50-year-old episode of insensitivity, the Post has done an equally hard-hitting investigative piece on the opposition candidate.

After venturing into the Washington Compost to read this puffy drivel, I came across with one impression of Stanley Ann...

“Flake.”

Haven’t read the book, but that one makes sense to me.

Papa took off before he could build a relationship with him, so of course his emotional and fantasy life would be more focused on Father.

Mom is known and boring, Dad is not known and therefore can be whatever you want him to be.
