Please forgive me for improper format and lack of thees and thous and typos. I'm not a preacher and not a biblical scholar or even a great church-going Christian. Just a Believer. A common man who uses common language. But I do greatly fear for our nation and our freedom and I sincerely pray that what we do is in accordance to God's will. The fear has overwhelmed me.
I find myself repeating this passage:
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
I am seeking strength and courage.

I empathize. For me, I had to come to grips with definitions. America, the nation, the United States, the United States government are each different things; although there is overlap, there is not a perfect congruence. I pray for America, and for Americans. I pray for my culture, which does NOT flow through New England, the tail which has wagged the American dog for far too many generations.
As for the government in Washington, the leading political parties and their leaders, may God grant them all that they have earned. To the last measure.
Fear for the future is not of God. You are under attack, and you are under attack because you are still holding out. Check out Psalm 2 to see how the story ends. There is no need to fear for the future, however dire it appears at close hand.
Remember this too. Each soul is immortal. All nations are fleeting. Christ came to redeem souls. He did not deal in trifles like the Roman empire, or any of its successors. He came to redeem what truly mattered. People. Limited, fallen, contrite people who believe in Him.

You did fine. I pray the Good Lord hears and answers.

Jim, I truly fear for the survival of our nation. So many have strayed from righteousness and even openly defy God. He will not bless a nation when most of her people refuse to honor Him.
But, our God is a merciful God. He hears our humble prayers and with Him all things are possible. He may still turn from His wrath, forgive our sin and heal our land.
Regardless, although He may punish a nation, he still loves us and blesses those who truly love Him and desire righteousness. We do our best fighting on our knees.
"I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread." - Psalm 37:25

Amen.
Our Western culture is rotting from within but Christian missionaries are making amazing progress in Asia and Africa, long dominated by tyrants and communists.
Either someday the Americas and Europe will be seen as the backward lands of heathens and the forsaken continents will replace them in God’s sight or God is preparing us for the Great Rapture and He wants to make sure all nations have heard of Christ so no one living has the excuse that they weren’t told before they were judged.
Either way, God’s plan is just and righteous. He will not be mocked and He will not be defeated.
