Brown, who promised voters while campaigning in 2010 that he would end years of budget trickery in Sacramento, acknowledged that he was relying on "one-time revenues to handle one-time problems."

He added: "This is the best that I could do."

Temporary taxes ... Riiiight!

Nothing is as permanent as a “temporary tax”!

No way, Gov. Moonbeam. Here’s brainwave for you: “It’s the SPENDING, stupid.” Ditto to the collective group of mouth-breathing imbeciles in the California legislature.

To paraphrase a previous Democrat president, it all depends on what the meaning of the word ‘temporarily’ is.

If California has enough money to spend on the bullet train to Fresno why do we need a tax increase? I seriously think Brown has dementia.

Jerry Brown's plea to voters: 'Please increase taxes temporarily'

Photobucket

Yeah, Minnesota and Minneapolis are packed with "temporary" taxes that just never seem to go away.

We enacted a temporary sales tax in Tennessee... it’s now about 60 or so years old.

Interesting how cutting the bloated salaries and benefits of the California government workers is never mentioned as a solution.

Since everyone pays sales taxes, I doubt Jerry has the votes to increase sales taxes when the voters hear story upon story of bloated state worker salaries.

>> Jerry Brown warns that cuts will be even more severe if voters reject tax hikes on the November ballot. <<

Why are you waiting months for the regular election to roll around, girlie man?! When I was gubernator, we didn't have to *WAIT* until November to take our case to voters. We pointlessly spent millions of dollars on a SPECIAL ELECTION so I could get voters to act on my proposals NOW! (and they gave me a slap down both times) Cally-forn-ya went without an election in 2011. You disappoint me, Jerry. If fiscally conservative Ahnuld was still in charge, we would have spend at least $380 million on THREE special elections by now!

Good luck with those “temporary taxes,” Californians.Oh well, most ‘rat voters won’t be affected by them.

Without those levies, he said Monday, public schools and community colleges would be sliced by $5.5 billion, and the University of California and California State University systems would be cut by $250 million each. Other popular programs, like lifeguards at state beaches, would also get the ax, for a total of nearly $6.1 billion in extra cuts.

California pays a third of a BILLION DOLLARS in Lifeguard fees!? Let me guess, after all the democratic money laundering handling happens, the Lifeguards are not getting paid a million bucks a year pay.

Just for kicks and grins I looked it up, lifeguards get $200,000 a year in some cities in california. But even at that pay, you would have to have so many lifeguards that parking at the beach would be hard.
