John Edwards' lawyers abruptly ended his defense today without calling the former presidential candidate or the mistress with whom he carried on an affair.
Lawyers for Edwards ended their case with a series of bank statements, phone records and Federal Election Commission memos and a final shot at the credibility of Edwards' primary accuser, Andrew Young.

I think that he might beat the rap, too. From what I have read, the money was solicited and donated in a way that didn’t explicitly say how it was to be used.
If he gets any sentence, it will be in a low security facility. Democrats don’t want this issue making much news right now.

Whether its jail time or not The Silky Pony will not ride on the political landscape ever again. Bimbo Rielle is the clear winner here. Lets hope he mans up to his children and does them some good the rest of his days.

Where is the trial? Millions of jurors would sympathize with Edwards, may have voted for him for v.p. Tarheels will be particularly moved to acquit.
The trial is in Greensboro, N.C.
Normally I would say sympathetic crowd but he is not thought of very highly after his shenanigans.
Wouldn’t surprise me if they find him guilty but he gets some minor sentence, ie. a fine, community service, etc.
I will be surprised if he actually sets foot in a prison.
I’m sending him a bar of soap and some advice... Don’t drop the bar of soap and keep your mouth shut.
