Talk about a "Beautiful Day." Once the smoke clears from Friday's (May 18) Facebook IPO
, U2 singer Bono could be the richest musician on the planet.

According to England's NME, the already flush, tech-savvy
Irish rock icon owns 2.3 percent of the shares of Facebook through his investment group, Elevation Partners. Well before Facebook filed papers to go public, Elevation paid $90 million for the shares in 2009 and after what is expected to be the second-biggest IPO in history, Bono's share could be worth more than $1.5 billion.

Bono is one of those “tax the rich” hypocrites who fled his country to avoid the taxes, isn’t he?

Obscure reference:

“Bono doesn’t HOLD the record, he IS the record.”

I think he's going to buy a farm next to Bon Jovi so he can raise bees and get a tax break.

Love the hypocrisy of the far left with their hatred of capitalism and cooperate America unless it is them.

He’s not “one of,” he’s the poster boy.

He only stood up for Bush because Bush gave $30 billion to Africa. His “charity” is taking our tax dollars and sending them to Africa. He’s a dirty hypocritical lib.

” He’s not “one of,” he’s the poster boy.”

Bono adjusted his residences to coincide with the best available tax breaks. Forbes wrote that he has avoided over 38 million in taxes over the last 20 years.

If Bono hadn’t clamored for “other people’s money” to play the charity card (while shrewdly protecting his own), I doubt many FReepers would begrudge his financial savvy. It’s the disconnect that chafes. He trusts government to spend OUR money, but his? No way.

Their love of money brings the most high-minded liberal nut cases down to brass tacks conservatism, every time. It’s a bracing tonic for their delusions of grandeur.

Will he give it all to African causes the way he wants US Taxpayers to give away all their hard earned income?
