FReeper Canteen ~ Sunday Chapel ~ LET GO AND LET GOD ~ 20 May 2012

LET GO AND LET GOD

As children bring their broken toys with tears for us to mend
I brought my broken dreams to God because he was my friend

But instead of leaving him in peace to work alone
I hung around and tried to help with ways that were my own

At last I snatched them and cried, "How could you be so slow?"
"My child," He said, "What could I do? You never did let go."

No work today - we're back to 40 hours max. I slept in this morning late and had a restful day. Went out late afternoon to drop a few things off at Salvation Army and went to Lowe's to buy a mirror for our 1st floor bathroom. Mrs. MacNessa is painting it and we're changing the mirror, the light kit and the faucet in the sink. What we had wasn't bad but it's been there for 20 years and we're ready for a change.

LOL

A woman returned from church and surprised and surprised and intruder robbing her home.

She yelled Acts 2:38, which means "Repent and be Baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, so that your sins may be forgiven!"

The burglar stopped in his tracks, and surrendered.

The woman calmly called the police and explained what she had done.

As the officer was cuffing the burglar, he asked him, "Why did you just stand there when all the lady did was yell a Scripture at you?

"Scripture?!"replied the burglar, "She said she had an Axe and two 38's!!"

LOL

Kathy, your “Let Go and Let God” reminded me of this poem:

A young, new preacher was walking with an older, more seasoned preacher in the garden one day and feeling a bit insecure about what God had for him to do, he was inquiring of the older preacher. The older preacher walked up to a rosebush and handed the young preacher a rosebud and told him to open it without tearing off any petals.

The young preacher looked in disbelief at the older preacher and was trying to figure out what a rosebud could possibly have to do with his wanting to know the WILL OF GOD for his life and for his ministry. Because of his high respect for the older preacher, he proceeded to TRY to unfold the rose, while keeping every petal intact…It wasn’t long before he realized how it was impossible to do so.

Noticing the younger preacher’s inability to unfold the rosebud while keeping it intact, the older preacher began to tell the following poem…

It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of GOD’s design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.
The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
GOD opens this flower so sweetly,
When in my hands they fade and die.
If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of GOD’s design,
Then how can I think I have wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?
So I’ll trust in Him for His leading
Each moment of every day.
I will look to Him for His guidance
Each step of the pilgrim way.
The pathway that lies before me,
Only my heavenly Father knows.
I’ll trust Him to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose.

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.

May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.

May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.

G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.

Beautiful story and poem, yorkie.

Sometimes we forget that God has unique plans for our lives and we must be brought down to recognize His handiwork.

Praise The Lord!

Thank God for church ladies with typewriters. These announcements actually appeared in a church bulletin or were announced in a church service:

1. Bertha Belch, a missionary from Africa, will be speaking tonight at Calvary Memorial Church in Racine. Come tonight and hear Bertha Belch all the way from Africa.

2. Announcement in the church bulletin for a National PRAYER & FASTING Conference: “The cost for attending the Fasting and Prayer conference includes meals.”

3. Our youth basketball team is back in action Wednesday at 8 PM in the recreation hall. Come out and watch us kill Christ the King.

4 .Miss Charlene Mason sang “I will not pass this way again” giving obvious pleasure to the congregation.

5. “Ladies, don’t forget the rummage sale. It’s a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Don’t forget your husbands.”
