I'm looking for a summer job as a Pile Driving Analyst (PDA) operator. I know this is a political website, but I know there's a bunch of successful businessmen and engineers who visit this site.
I have one more year and then I can retire from the State of Mississippi. I have this summer off, from the Monday after Memorial Day until August 8 (working as a teacher).
I'd like to get back into Engineering in a big way. There are pile jobs around the country that need a Dynamic Pile Testing Analyst (PDA Engineer). I have extensive experience (over 10 years on the PDA and some experience with CAPWAP and WEAP).
If you have a summer pile-testing program set up, and you need an expert out in the field operating your PDA, e-mail me. I will travel where the work is, so relocating is no problem. Not only that, but I've written over 35 Geotechnical reports over the past 12 years, and have worked on landslide repairs and settlement problems as well.
For those of you looking for an overall Geotechnical Engineer, you could think of it as a Summer Tryout. If I'm good enough, you can hire me after the 2012-2013 school year. I will e-mail my resume' and any other pertinent information
I work in high-tech in San Jose, CA. I walked out of work a couple days ago and heard something I haven’t heard in YEARS — a pile driver nearby sinking piles for a new building. I was astonished and had to momentarily stop to think “what’s that sound?”. Every building in Silicon Valley sits on very long piles. The only problem is you can’t afford to live here.
I read in the paper this week that the Denver area is in the midst of a HUGE construction boom and can’t find all the labor needed in that market. Is that a good pile market given soils in the area?
I wish you’d come Connecticut and and start pile-driving all our trial lawyers and environmentalists. As it stands now, they’ve turned an opportunity like the one you’re seeking a near impossiblity in my region.
I miss the sound of things being built. Good luck!
“... turned an opportunity like the one youre seeking INTO a near impossiblity ...” Oops. Doh.
If you are near retirement age, no one will hire you.
Well (no pun intended) I got a truck driving job within 3 days of obtaining my CDL A license at 70.
Regarding Pile Driver Operator....there was precisely 1 (one) job in the federal nation wide lob listings last month.
On a separate issue....you might want to take a look a WIRELINE OPERATOR or COILED TUBING OPERATOR in the fracking oil/gas industry...these guys make well over 6 figures.
Ping, for further explanation. When steel or concrete piles are driven for bridges or buildings, dynamic load testing is used to determine lengths on the said piles by using a PDA. If any of you know a Geotech company interested in having a PDA operator, let me know via e-mail.
Mississippi ping for a Mississippi Pile Drive even if his State fan
Best wishes and prayers for your job search, MuttTheHoople.
Hiya WKB! God bless and keep you and your precious family.
I wish you good fortune in finding a job in your field, even though you are a State fan. ;o)
