I watched SNL and when Jagger said he had written a song about the Presidential race I groaned expecting it to be a love song to bammy. It wasn't a good song - but did say Romney was a good man, then said something I thought about not letting him cut your hair????

So I waited for the next verse to be about The One and it never happened. I didn't hear anything about bammy. The song sucked but I was just speechless at the end.

The Weekend Update also did a joke about the magazine (Newsweek/Time?) showing obama on the front as the First Gay President. Seth said something like, "just because he keeps in shape, spends a lot on clothing, likes to party and takes extravagant vacations doesn't mean he is gay....oh wait, he IS gay."

> “This is amazing. The media is reporting this as an anti-romney performance. “

Er, that’s because it was actually was anti-romney. “Mensch” was used sarcastically, and the “cut your hair” line was a jab at the prep school story.

I watch SNL every week and have since it’s beginning. I was surprised last Sat. that I heard no anti conservative jokes. Usually the first skit is anti conservative and Seth Meyers always has something nasty to say about Bush or some Republican. I figured that I had just nodded off and missed it. :D

So true Ditter - I was surprised that Kristin Whig was leaving - were you aware of that before the show?

Tom Petty played Beck’s instrumental version of the Beatles’ A Day in the Life on his Buried Treasure radio show on the Sirius/XM Deep Tracks station last week. Highly recommended, the song, the show, the station, all of the above.

You’ve gotta love the Internet - here it is.

Now to find the SNL show at NBC.com, I suppose.

SNL is still on? People still watch it? If Jagger was going to do a song for Obama, I would have expected Wild Horses or Lovin Cup, or even Let’s Spend the Night Together. He will be 70 on July 27th of this year. I saw The Stones a couple times eons ago, and he looked old then. He hasn’t aged gracefully like Keith has.

I saw where Tal toured with Haerbie Hancock again, but
I think Jeff Beck’s style allows her to shine through
better.
Like you, glad to see she is playing bass with Beck again.
I’d like to get her newest solo disc.

Both Mick Jagger and Jeff Beck look fabulous - take it from this much younger woman (:

yes - i'm sure the SNL producers wanted something anti-romney. the liberal main attack on romney is that he is an evil out-of-touch capitalist. Jagger didn't play along and only made the cutting hair comment which is very mild and non-political.

No I did not know she was leaving. I hate that because she is one of my favorites. We just figured it out at the end of the show.

Mick was very funny in the Password game show spoof as an action-movie tough guy who is an over-the-top fairy in real life. He gushed "I'm just FULL of crazy secrets!" as he pats the hand of the male contestant.

I was wondering if Mick would have reprised his Keith Richards imitation like he did the last time he was on SNL.

I missed that! Have to admit I’ve become very easily distracted because I play spider solitare while watching tv..... apparently I’m not as good at doing two things at once as I thought I was.

Jagger ought to give Beck a referral to his wig maker, however.

Beck and Clapton are true virtuosos. Beck strikes me as maybe a bit more artistic while Clapton leans toward commercial productions.

Something I admire about both of them is that they are complete nuts for American hot rods.

Jeff Beck collects them and is a genuine motor head who builds and maintains his own machines -

Clapton has an affinity for tooling around in custom built Ford Victorias that he personally designs and styles in collaboration with Roy Brizio of San Francisco.

Clapton is less likely to be found with grease under his nails but his vision for creation can be seen in this 33 Ford Vicky 4 door. A model that never really existed - notice the wiper position. This car was built with right hand drive to be used in England.

(Of course money helps, too)

There was also a Rev AL skit. The actor playing AL was alluding to spare time on his hands now. The closed captions had the line to the effect that “...since the George Zimmerman thing settled down...”, but the line was never spoken. Apparently the line was edited out on the cue cards, but not the closed caption.
Looks like everyone knows it is a dead controversy, but not ready to admit it.
