For that matter, I can think of about 2 or 3 public figures whose “endorsement” I might actually care about. Even then, it would have no influence on my vote.

I’m sorry but, I too share the disdain for this Republican turncoat, but this is a big deal, Colin Powell’s refusal to outright endorse Obama at this time.

Rest assured the Obama camp considers this announcement a slap in the face, and it will resonate with others.

Perhaps the underlying plus for our side is that Colin Powell’s reticence may give others “permission” to begin to question their vote for Obama.

What a great example of leadership and "merit" as opposed to affirmative action. Here you have a former Secretary of State, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, National Security Advisor and 4-Star General in the Army.
