Cotton wins GOP nod for south Ark. US House seat

Army veteran and management consultant Tom Cotton has won the Republican nomination for a south Arkansas congressional seat.

Cotton defeated Beth Anne Rankin and John Cowart in Tuesday's primary for the 4th Congressional District. The 35-year-old from Dardanelle raised more than $1 million in his bid for the seat and had racked up endorsements from leading national Republicans and conservative groups.

Rankin is a former Miss Arkansas who worked as an aide in former Gov. Mike Huckabee's administration. She was the party's 4th District nominee in 2010.

The district is Arkansas' only U.S. House seat occupied by a Democrat. Congressman Mike Ross announced last year he wouldn't seek a seventh term.

Tom Cotton wasn’t my first choice, but he seems like a good man and good conservative, and he’s certainly a fervet patriot. I think our side will be OK when he’s elected.

I read his bio and he appeared to be a fairly badass soldier.

Just curious, did Huckabee endorse Rankin? Have friends who live in Arkansas but not in this district and they barely keep up with their own district, let alone others. They did, however, vote for BO’s opponent so that was good on them.

I’m suprised there hasn’t been a thread about the Dem Pres candidate that got 39% of the vote tonight in Arkansas vs Obama. Unless I missed it somewhere??

“Just curious, did Huckabee endorse Rankin?”

Yes, Rankin was a member of Huckabee’s staff when Huckabee was Governor.

At the moment, it’s 41%. In the GOP primary, nearly 1/3rd of the voters (32%) are voting against Willard. Quite telling.

It’s not telling. Romney has pretty much won the nomination. Merely protest votes. Neither party likes their candidates.
Also, Akransas has a open primary. So both partys can vote for each others candidate.

Well, some of us aim to stop that abomination by the convention. 32% voting against Willard when none are real candidates IS telling. Just as much as the 41% voting against Zero.

Are you thick? I just told you democrats can vote for republicans and vice versa. It's a open primary. You aren't stopping anything. You're just helping the enemy.

Socialism is the enemy. Both Willard & Zero are their standard bearers.

You’re just helping the enemy.

Wrong. Your helping the enemy Romney to get the nomination. Romney is a disgrace and should be stopped at all cost before it is too late.
