Police say a person stole Monroeville Mall merchandise and was seen on video hitting a 17-year-old employee who confronted her.
First, the girl shoplifted at Hollister on Thursday, police said.
Then, the video shows her holding the worker's hair, hitting her with a purse and kicking her after the employee followed her outside the store and onto the mall floor.
"Certainly, it looks pretty shocking on the video," Monroeville Police Chief Doug Cole said. "The young lady was being assaulted, as you can see, struck and kicked. That's at least a simple assault."
Police said the suspect will also be charged with theft after she is caught.
So far, police have declined to publicly identify the suspect. But they still want to hear from anyone who has a tip that can help them find her.

It was exactly what I exected to see, complete with the bystanders chiding her for attempting to do the right thing and chuckling at her predicament.

Those of you familiar with the Washington, DC, area, remember that Landover Mall closed for these same reasons.
I remember in the years leading up to the closure of the mall, the liberals said that the Lerner Corporation, owner of Landover and other area malls, did not have enough security, and let the mall become rundown. They claimed that Lerner didn’t get high end stores there, and didn’t maintain the mall.
Maybe the liberals have a small point about lack of security at Landover being a problem, but, the liberals never addressed exactly why so much security was needed at that mall.
I bought my car in Monroeville area...don't otherwise shop in that area.

I worked in a beauty salon there, told the owner I had to quit because of distance traveled, but truthfully I was scared sh_t less after dark...

How did the reporter come up with that? I saw a man step in to stop it. I guess if the facts don't fit what you want to believe, make stuff up.
I went to Thistledown for the K. Derby and was absolutely shocked at the boarded up building and business all over that area . . . street after street . . . like I was driving through Detroit.
It's absolutely disgusting that that community of "special class" citizens can't put it together, police their own neighborhoods, stop encouraging the out of control illegitimacy, encourage high school graduation, get jobs, and re-establish marriage in their community.
I would hate to be a very young "black boy" anywhere in these communities because they'll probably see mom have a number of boy friends, some of whom will probably rough her up, then they'll go to a public screwel where the teachers will fawn all over the female students and virtually ignore anything that the male students will do, and if the boys do well in school, they'll be made fun of.
If any Freepers remember Euclid Beach, they've probably heard the city officials wonder why, even after all these years, that the park had to close . . . I remember going down to Euclid Beach Amusement park with my sister and friends, unsupervised, and all was well. Then, somewhere in the late 60s, all of a sudden, the you know whats took over the park and then you couldn't go to the bath room without getting your wallet stolen.
And to this day, the city officials ponder why the park closed . . . Golly, why did it close? Same reason the malls are closing.
Nobody has the nerve to rein in these punks without being called racists. Cops are afraid to do anything or they'll get suspended, and on and on and on and on.
I guess trayvoning the shoplifter to stop the attack would have upset the usual suspects.
This shit is going to explode. I know several kumbaya “can’t we all get along” white liberals who are now openly talking about KICKING ASS! I’m not kidding. I was pleasantly surprised. Now, granted, this is Chicago, and not some swish Northeast town or West Coast asylum. Folks here DO and WILL get riled up. I can smell it in the air. This is going to be a very hot summer.

Just as the only reason anyone would object to Barack Obama’s policies is racism, the only reason anyone would object to one of Eric Holder’s people shoplifting is because they are racist.
I looked but I already knew the answer. Imagine my surprise on finding out I was right.
I don’t remember ever seeing those kinds of comments on a mainstream news site. WTAE is an ABC affiliate. Apparently, they’re going to let the comments stand.
What a shame and disappointment. After a generation working to make every effort to provide justice, equal rights and opportunities for all citizens, regardless of race, here we are...
