Click it or Ticket - Primary Stop Seat Belt Law - 21st May through Memorial Day
Facebook Group ^ | Today | Me

Posted on 05/23/2012 8:38:31 PM PDT by dila813

The news is that the Click it or Ticket stepped up enforcement is started on Monday.

Even if you are wearing your seatbelt, that isn't any protection against a ticket.

Police can now stop you for no other reason than they say you weren't wearing it. This is the ultimate revenue generator.

On Twitter, the propaganda is in full swing @NHTSAgov #ClickItorTicket

Methinks someone will get his or her wrist slapped — for putting the doggone thing on the web without password security.

Any idiot who does not wear a seatbelt is really stupid. However, it should be their right to be stupid.

I wonder if your car has data showing the driver's seat belt was clicked at a certain time of a certain day... I had heard of a work vehicle that had a bit more complicated computer in it and a fellow was stopped for speeding. After requesting data retrieval for that particular time, he proved in court he wasn't speeding at the time the officer said he was..

It would be useful to know WHAT STATE (or states) this is going down in. If you’re going to use the forum bandwidth, at least post USEFUL information. WHO-WHAT-WHERE-WHEN-WHY!

It is going on all over the country (including here in the People's Socialist Republic of Utopian Moonbats...Vermont) and it is the brainchild of DOT's head, Sec. Ray La[The]Hood.

Press Release: "U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood Announces 'Click It or Ticket' Campaign"

Yet another (among many) of Boosh's RINO appointments who has gone over to the Dark Side after having imbibed too much Kool Aid.

Sure, they run the propaganda here, but they cant do unannounced checkpoints and they CANT pull you over for just your seatbelt :)
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Virginia the same, secondary offense..(supposedly) can’t pull you over for NOT wearing...but... I notice more and more local jurisdictions have the ‘click it etc roadside signs up’.... not even sure the police put them out and then there is the little ‘seat belt enforcement area’ signs, which again are probably not by the police but....I don’t wear in VA because I don’t have to but I will wear them where required, I don’t need the hassle and waste time for a ticket etc....

Last I had heard, a local ordinance CAN’T override a state law but they can make you ‘uncomfortable’ and waste a lot of your time in the process -

Before VA got ‘smart’, the only way a non CCP holder had to transport a weapon was in full view, which virtually meant that if say the butt or barrell of the gun wasn’t in 100% view, you were carrying concealed, so the only alternative was to carry it where police could see it...of course that meant that all neighboring cars and pedestrians at lights could also see it, resulting in calls etc...

At least now,- in VA - if you are otherwise ‘legal’ to possess, you can carry in your vehicle, concealed....so a step in the right direction. - and with permit, one can carry on school property (at least leave in vehicle legally) and in establishments that serve alcohol -as long as YOU are not consuming alcohol....

Again, steps in the right direction, allowing us to do what we are ‘guaranteed able to do’ but then again we are referring to that pesky constitution....

As ‘muddy’ the 2nd can be interpreted, MY right to bear is a whole lot clearer than my ‘right’ to do 90% of what is claimed by the courts etc

“Or hit and runs either.”

Sadly so. Was visiting San Semmion Ca a few years ago having dinner when someone asked me if I knew who drove the white toyota in the lot. I said, me. They said they saw someone back into it and drive away and they had the plate number. I called the CHP and was asked was anyone hurt. I said not as far as I know. They said take down this number which will be report, we do not come out for that. I said it is quite a bit of damage, surely enough for a felony charge not to mention they were probably drunk. Answer, no one hurt, we don’t respond, turn it into your insurance company.

I bet had I cought the p-—k and blasted him but good with my fists I’d have been put in the crossbar motel but such is life. Sans the deductable, and a claim on my insurance, at least the rest of the rental damage was covered.

Seatbelt laws are nannie state revenue generators, nothing else, anyone driving without a seatbelt endangers only themselves and no one else. It’s not like drunk driving laws where the drunk endangers the public at large and should be stopped. Seatbelt laws are a usurping of freedom of choice.

INteresting....in fact think of the time it takes to make a “fugitive arrest” and processing verses how many seat beat violations one can conjure up...the result is one is more interested in writing seat belt violations than arrests for a crime.

I have been a big opponent of the dui check point, seat belt stopping campaigns for a long time. It is a violation of your right of free travel. Once they got this crap into the public pysche, along comes the roving bands of DHS road blocks looking for “terrorists” 100% of these guys would not know a terrorist if one bit them in the butt but nonetheless the public goes along with the crap.

Where does the Constitution grant the right to make people wear seat belts? Answer: Nowhere. Depending on each State’s own Constitution it may be legal within their own boundaries.

All fines, penalties, permit fees, registration fees, and any means of taking money out of the hands of the people by force or law IS A TAX! They can name it what they want but the end result is extorted money forcefully taken away from a free citizen to feed the bowels of government on all levels.

Our law enforcement system is supposed to control CRIME! Nothing else...not to force you to be safe.

The cops would never let that fly. Just like the red light cameras. They are being used for revenue, and even a court order won’t get them shut down.

At least the local cops are honest about it.

I saw a couple of those portable flashing message signs in my town yesterday with “Click It or Ticket” in lights . . . and at one of them a local news media mobile team doing a “live spot” in front of one of the signs complete with one of those florescent type vests on the news lady standing pretty close to 60 mph traffic. Way to go to create driver distraction. Not very safe.

Forget about the boys in blue actually tracking down the perps. Not happening.

I was thinking in terms of at least taking a report and getting the makes, models and serial numbers of the guns.

A friend of mine had a cop walk into his own home and start giving him grief.

My friend just sat there and calmly asked where he was supposed to be (the cop was in the wrong house), and if he had noticed that there were three pistols, two rifles, and a shotgun laying on the kitchen table where my friend was sitting. He was cleaning the guns after a weekend of shooting.

The young cop turned white, ran out of the house, and called for back up. Dispatch was laughing so hard he couldn’t breath. They know my friend, and sent the rookie to the wrong house as a joke.

New Hampshire has no seat belt requirement for adults 18 and over.

That doesn’t stop the NHTSA from advertising continuously on radio and tv that we need to buckle up or we will get a ticket, which we won’t because we don’t have that law.

Stupid, but intentional propaganda to get us ready for a law.
