The Feds have been forced to release their social network monitoring manual, which contains the list of words the government watches on social media and news sites.

[snip]

Homeland Security Manual Lists Government Key Words For Monitoring Social Media, News

Ever complain on Facebook that you were feeling “sick?” Told your friends to “watch” a certain TV show? Left a comment on a media website about government “pork?”

If you did any of those things, or tweeted about your recent vacation in “Mexico” or a shopping trip to “Target,” the Department of Homeland Security may have noticed.

I’ve stopped caring...as long as this is the most *transparent* administration in history, eh?

They couldn’t possibly have time to monitor all those words even if they didn’t take smoke breaks.

Oh, they certainly do monitor the words, using software and databases. But it would take more than a smattering of common words for the matter to be referred for human attention.

None of the typical liberal buzz words made the list,

No gang buzzwords.

Phrases used by illegals or the traffickers in human beings didn't make the list.

Words used by pedophiles and drug dealers are strangely missing.

None of the stuff radical Muslims sprinkle their language with...' peace be unto you' type crap - made the list...

But quite a few words that primarily target conservatives made the list. Liberals are totalitarians... and the effing New York Times would be the first to scream if the list covered terms used primarily by liberals.

If Theodor Nagel, Luthiers Mercantile, Madagascar, and guacamole made the list . . . they'll be a knock at my door any momment.

In all honesty, I'll bet there's a Double Secret Probation List.

You likely just set off buzzers. If "hope" or "change" appears on Freerepublic, they go into overdrive looking for the derogatory remarks.

They really are out of their effing minds, aren’t they? The sooner all these folks get porked in the upcoming election cycles the better off we all will be.

A lot of this crap was started or happening under Bush. Don't think changing parties will fix a damn thing.

A lot of this crap was started or happening under Bush. Don't think changing parties will fix a damn thing.

Remember Carnivore? That started under the Clintons. And if we hadn't had Al Qaeda do the 9/11 attacks there would not have been the impetus for expanding certain surveillance programs, though government doesn't need a pretext to try to find ways to protect its ass against the people. The Founders saw that once the government had failed in its responsibility to the people it lost its legitimacy and had to go. Of course those in the government will try to maintain their hold no matter what. The Founders knew and wrote extensively about what Mao later summed up as, "Power comes from the barrel of a gun." But even more important than knowing, they put their knowledge into action.

Yeah, short of what the Founders did, changing parties is about the only chance to change anything. How well did Pelosi/Reid/Obama listened to us? If getting control of both houses of Congress and the White House puts in people the other party have elected, there's at least that much more chance of having the means of changing things. But it means getting certain programs defunded. It means not only reducing the rate of growth of the federal government but actually cutting it back. What killed the Roman Empire was out-of-control taxation slavery put in place by greedy folks using the government to promote their own interests over those of society at large. It destroyed industry, agriculture, and social life. In the end, the very government that started tax slavery ended up destroying itself by its own actions along with the society. The more important thing is to spare the society to live in liberty to take care of its own needs in its own way.
