In New York City - which already bans smoking in public parks in the name of public health and bars artificial trans fats from food served in restaurants - Mayor Michael Bloomberg now wants to stop sales of large sodas and other sugary drinks, in a bid to battle obesity. But in a country where fries have been equated with freedom, Bloomberg's proposal begs super-sized questions about government's role in shaping and restricting individual choices. What's next, a Twinkie purge?

I buy a 32oz soda-> that’s one cup/bottle/receptacle in the garbage can
I buy 2 16oz sodas-> That’s 2, count them, one two cups/bottles/receptacles in the garbage which adds to the land fill.
My question is,will be be paying less for the bloomberg sized sodas? I didn’t think so.
Personally, I do think some servings are too big. I went to burger king and ordered a medium soda. I was shocked to see that the cup was extremely large. Wish I had asked for small. Still, I think everyone should sell the size they want to. Soon they’ll be telling us we can only buy 128 oz of gas each time we refuel the ethanol guzzling car.

I LOL when I buy stuff from Amazon and there’s some sort of health warning regarding California or the item is not compliant with that health conscious State. Apparently no one dies there because of these regulations.

The trial balloon was the massive lawsuit against smokers,- lawyers floated that assault on individuakl freedoms and got away with it scott free- Heck- they became multimillionairs by trampling o nthe rights of peopel to decide their own fates- once they knew how cowardly the american public was and saw that the public would let the lawyers willy nilly walk and piss all over htem without defending thjemselves, then came other attempts- Ban on Fatty Goose livers in chicago-, Ban on Oil for McDonalds french-fries that actually made htem taste good- ban on cafeteria ‘junk foods’ and school junk food and drink vending machines, now they are goign after a bigger target- the actual public in NY- next it will be hte public all across the coutnry
