Skip to comments.Trump: Media are biggest threat to Romney's presidential campaign

Speaking at the North Carolina GOP Convention, Trump praised Romney for his business experience and promise to stand up against China and fight for American economic interests. But the business mogul also focused a portion of his speech on his questions about where President Obama was born. It is the reason why on Tuesday, when Romney earned the 1,144 delegates necessary to secure his party's nomination, much of the news cycle was devoted to his decision to appear with Trump at a fundraiser that day.
A desire by the media to protect Obama is the reason Trump told the more than 1,000 people gathered here that reporters are "really dishonest" and "the biggest thing Mitt Romney has to fear is the press. They don't tell the truth."
And during his address, Trump again used his appearance as a platform to question the president's birth certificate, the reason he has branded himself as a controversial figure on the national political scene. Calling for the president to release his college records, Trump said, "There is one line called place of birth, I'd like to see what he said..Perhaps it's going to say Hawaii, perhaps it's going to say Kenya."

Romney’s record is the biggest threat to Romney’s campaign.
This is bull.
The FR He-Man Mitt Haters all claim that Obama will bring up Romney's liberal record and demand that he reconcile it with his present conservative rhetoric.
This is idiotic garbage.
Obama is going to ignore the specifics of Romney's Governorship just like Obama is going to ignore the specifics of his own Presidency.
The only people who are going to mention Romney's "liberalism" and those "conservatives" who are so opposed to Mormonism that they would rather see Obama re-elected.
“So how’s this Obama thing working out for you?
Are you good for four more years?”
Is that the standard line for anyone who acknowledges that Romney and the GOPe are frauds? Save it for someone else.
Maybe you should pose that question to the party bosses who forced the likes of Dole, McCain, and now Romney to be the nominee. THAT’S who set us up for obama in the first place and made us vulnerable to another four - nobody else.
And back to the point - the Romney fix was in from the beginning, possibly as early as 2008. I don’t call that earning the nomination.
There are plenty of pro life activists, conservative Christians, opponents of socialized health care, and opponents of the Homosexual agenda who are not going to vote For Mitt Romneycare no matter what he does, or any of his partisans do.
They don't need the media to tell them who he is at this late date.
Whining more on your part won't help.
Turning blue won't help.
Four more years of a socialist either way, and at least with Obama socialism hasn’t succesfully taken over the Republican party.
I will be voting for Virgil Goode.
When I stand before God, I will not be held accountable for what party wins or loses,
I will be held accountable for what values I personally espoused.
You got nothing.
Well, DUH ! ! !
Unlike you, I do not consider Romney’s religion to be nearly as great a threat to God’s mission on this earth as is Obama’s agenda.
You Mitt Haters keep talking about this “fix” but you all never explain how this fix works, or how campaigning against Romney now will cause the fix to disappear in the future.
“And back to the point - the Romney fix was in from the beginning...”
Bachmann, Perry, Cain, Gingrich, Santorum and a couple others ran ALL AT ONCE?
The RNC didn’t do that, and Romney didn’t do that. Politically ambitious candidates did that.
To get better results, get the best candidate, the best strategy, and a lot of money.
Not SIX candidates, half-strategies and little money.
A very fitting reward for then,.....the void.
Let us be sober minded concerning Romney and not let him go down the path of “His” version of “Green”....like Julia Gillard of Australia.
It's nothing but control based on unbelievably bad science.
What an idiot who tries to inject ignorant assumptions about another person’s religion into a discussion of two interchangable socialists thinks is of no interest to anyone.
As you personally were not bright enough to check my posting history before posting your little whine, I will point out that I have been stating that Romneycare must be rejected on the basis of his actions, not his religion since 2007.
My position is not new and not changing.
Many people will not vote for the foppish socialist for various reasons, and I listed religion in the interests of thoroughness.
You can vote for Romneycare if you want, but expect to be held accountable for his socialism by principled conservatives if he wins.
you want the dictator and eric holder to remain in power ?
the radical keynan and eric holder will destroy this country with four more years of power.
you peddle some third party loser.
Hey snide lefty .
Go troll at the DU
You need to alert the audience with a rimshot when attempting humor.
Your solution for the problem of a socialist loser is to put in a clone of him with a different party affiliation.
Not only will I pass on your plan, I will ridicule you for it.
[ you want the dictator and eric holder to remain in power ?
really ? ]
Romney is even more liberal than Bush...
I going with the fact there is a shadow givernment..
Bush pretty much proved it in his second term..
[ So how’s this Obama thing working out for you? Are you good for four more years? ]
You do realize “they” will martyr Zero don’t you...
And Romney will be a tool of the Unions (thereby democrats)..
You know like Bush...
