A House investigative committee said Tuesday it has obtained new information from wiretaps related to the Obama administration’s Operation Fast and Furious that suggests high-ranking officials know more than they are telling Congress about the flawed weapons sting.
“The wiretap applications show that immense detail about questionable investigative tactics was available to the senior officials who reviewed and authorized them,” Issa said in a June 5 letter to Holder. “The close involvement of these officials -- much greater than previously known -- is shocking.”
The targets of "Fast and Furious" bought nearly 2,000 weapons over several months. For reasons that are still in dispute, most of those weapons were never followed. High-powered weapons tied to the investigation ended up at crime scenes in Mexico and the United States, including the December 2010 murder of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.
The wiretaps were intended to allow investigators in Arizona to listen to the phone calls of suspects as part of the strategy to reveal evidence of involvement by high-level Mexican cartel associates. The six applications for wiretaps, which have been sealed by a federal judge, detail specific actions taken by agents involved in the operation, the GOP-controlled committee said in a statement.
The information shows the officials made “conscious decisions” not to interdict weapons that agents knew were illegally purchased by smugglers taking weapons to Mexico, according to the statement.

Sure would love to see a Tea party congressman put up a bill to place the laws governing this crap on hold for non government employees...you know, to make sure all men are still equal. Let the admin explain to the public why Holder and Co are untouchable while regular civilian criminals get decades long sentences for the same crimes.
In fact, FORCE them to explain it to the public.
So, it's not just a House investigative committee, by golly, it is a GOP-controlled committee!!!

It’s getting harder to cover the facts.
High ranking Officials of the ATF and the Justice Department knew what they were doing and were persistent in it because the order came down from the top.
The officials did not come up with this disastrous scheme on their own.
Obama was screaming at the top of his lungs that American guns were going into Mexico. His screams were coming because he wanted Gun Control in this country. This act was supposed to justify a new law being passed against our own 2nd. Amendment Rights. The scheme backfired on him. The only way he can get away with it is to protect these officials from punishment. So they won’t squeal.That is whay Holder is stonewalling.
This case should take down Obama and his administration.
We are seeing that Republican leadership hasn’t the stones to do what they have to do.
It appears to be working.
Holder must be laughing his a$$ off.

Mr. Issa has even more proof now of those involved - is chairman Cummings trying to shield Holder and their boss, Obama, from what everyone who has been paying attention to this knows is the truth? That Obama and Holder knew and approved Fast and Furious. Mr. Cummings should recuse himself from this committee.
I’m going to cut Issa a bit of slack. Hopefully he’s using the “don’t fire until you see the whites of their eyes” strategy.
My old man called it “boresighting” your enemies. Let ‘em get good and close, give them all the rope they need, and then nail the coffin shut. I’d wait until late July/early August to push the Contempt citation after all this stuff has had time to percolate a bit.
Then watch Obama let Holder twist in the wind.
One that brings this out closer to the election, two it’ll let Bammies allies know that they’re just one f-up from being hung out to dry. That’ll sow some major confusion in the ranks of the enemy.
When somebody as high up as Holder gets tossed under the bus watch the rest of the cockroaches head for the tall grass.

And Obama has a long history of throwing long time allies under the bus in Chicago.
