The point of Lehman’s win is that the national unions still have some power to come in and remove a state elected official who annoys them.
They had to figure out how many votes they needed to manufacture.
No - you are wrong - Lehman’s term expires in 2014.
You are correct in that Lehman will likely not vote on anything until 2013 when he will likely be in the minority.
From what I understand this is the hollowest of hollow victories, and even the Dems know it.
-The Senate does not come back in session till next year.
- In November a seat is open in a Republican district where a long-sitting Democrat retired. The Dems are highly unlikely to keep it.
-And also must account for some GOP-friendly redistricting.
Several of us were watching this one last night while everyone was celebrating the victories. Racine’s votes weren’t being released until way after the other races were called. I had the feeling the fix was in.
The last count I saw before turning in was about a 4,000 vote lead for Wanggaard with about 70% of the precincts reported.
As it turns out a 779 vote “victory” by the ‘Rat is about 1% of the total vote. I hope this is close enough to trigger an auto recount, but I think one of the reasons for delay was to manufacture the enough D votes to win.
It’s my understanding that there are two years left on Van Wangaard’s term, so Lehman will be there at least one (if there is a recall, ha ha) or two to finish out the term. And he will certainly cast votes in the senate.
