SAN DIEGO A San Diego State University graduate trying to return home after a family celebration of his commencement from a masters program in Costa Rica was told he is on a U.S. government no-fly list and could not board a plane, a local Islamic community official said Wednesday night.
Kevin Iraniha, 27, a Muslim who was born and raised in San Diego, was shocked and said he has never been involved in criminal or suspicious activity, said Hanif Mohebi, executive director of the San Diego chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
Iraniha had just obtained his masters degree in international law from the University for Peace after studying for a year in Costa Rica. He has a degree in political science from SDSU.

It could be a name confusion. This “University For Peace” appears to be some ooh-la-la UN school for ooh-la-la topics like “international law.” Trouble making Muslims might be interested in going to a school like that, but so might other people for various reasons (e.g. liberals looking at a career as a diplomat). We’re not hearing about anyone else at the school having problems being on the List.
It will probably be much easier to get himself off the List than it would be for a seventh generation American to. The existence of the List itself has fundamental problems — what happens when a John Smith implicates himself?
San Diego State University ... so, exactly which state is San Diego? We do not have a state called San Diego. If they want to be California State University AT San Diego -that’s fine.
SDSU - South Dakota State University.
University of Texas - Austin
University of Texas - Houston
Alawiki was a student at San Diego State before he moved to Yemen. Just because you go to San Diego State does not prove that you are not a muslim scumbag terrorist.
He is not barred from entering america, he is only barred from american airplanes. He can fly to puerto penasco then have someone in america drive to meet him and take him back.
San Diego State University is the proper name.
I graduated from San Jose State University.
