I spent about 10 hours in Hawaii on my way back to the states one time. Beautiful place. No, my Pacific experience is limited to two tours in Korea and growing up in Southern California until I was 14. So you’re saying even the prep schools are laid-back? I went to public schools in CA, FL and IA and most were very serious about teaching back then. I’m roughly the same age as Mr. Obama.

I have a highly educated sense of grammar, quite the command. I also type at all hours under all conditions (babies crawling over me and such) on iPads and iPhones and whatnot, and make countless errors.
Yet I would never write longhand “your” for “you’re.”. Never. Could not do it.
Well, at least he didn’t spell it “ur”.
