Obama Suing Florida - and Vice Versa - Over Voter Registration
Townhall.com ^ | June 11, 2012 | Kevin Glass

The state of Florida recently engaged in a campaign to fight voter fraud, combing through their voter rolls to weed out illegitimately-registered voters. While they've been accused of invalidating legal voters' registrations, the effort has been having some modicum of success.

[I]n the last few days, the Division of Elections released a list of the names of 86 voters it says have been removed by local supervisors because they were non-citizens between April 11 and June 8. About half of them are listed as having voted.

That, backers of the purge effort say, proves the need for the move, because it shows that some non-citizens have indeed registered and cast votes.

Florida Governor Rick Scott has been promoting his state's law as a necessary measure, especially absent the federal government's responsibility to combat voter fraud. But now, the Obama Administration is alleging that Florida is violating the Voting Rights Act and the National Voter Registration Act.

In an interview with Fox News on Monday, Scott also defended the initiative. He denied that the purge could unfairly target Latino residents, and he said he's just trying to fairly enforce the law.

"We need to have fair elections in our state. I want to make sure that when we have elections ... not one person's vote gets diluted by somebody that doesn't have the right to vote," Scott told Fox News. "We're doing the right thing. ... We have people that are voting illegally in our races -- that's not right."

As we had with Arizona and SB 1070, a red state is taking the responsibility on itself to enforce laws that the federal government is allegedly not enforcing - and the Obama Administration has responded in kind with another lawsuit.

This is small potatoes. What about removing voters from the roles who are dead.

The handling of the voting process is a state issue. The nation dictates a few things...like all US citizens have the right to vote, if they are over the age of 18. Beyond that...the state maintains it’s rules.

I would say this...if the state had dropped just one voter from the registration list who was an eligible voter, then the US federal folks would have the right to get involved. So far, this hasn’t happened.

I suspect this will go up to the Supreme Court, and folks will be shocked that they stand by the Florida belief. I also think people are going to start asking for a listing in their own communities of voters, and probably doing their own private detective work....noting problems on their own.

Earlier news reports said they were attempting to purge the dead from the roles as well.

The dirty little secret is that certain ethnicities get “rubber stamped” into entitlement programs whereas other non-ethnicities are almost always audited and required to provide reams of documentation. These agencies don’t want any trouble from community organizer types like Jesse and Al so they “overlook” the requirement for documentation on non caucasian types.

I saw this in two cases. I used to work for subsidized housing where they’d make non-minorities jump through several flaming hoops documentation-wise, whereas minorities who would drive in with their lexus or gigantic late model SUVs with a employment ID around their necks from the local fortune 500 would get on the program with virtually no questions asked.

I also have two children; one happens to be bi-racial. At one time before I turned conservative (after two weeks of working for subsidized housing and simultaneously listening to Rush) I qualified for reduced priced lunches for my two children. EVERY.SINGLE.TIME they would audit my DAUGHTER who is caucasian and would NEVER EVER audit my SON who is bi-racial. I asked just why that was and I got a lot of “um, uh, um” like Obummer during a speech.

I’d like to see Obama sue over that. Discrimination against Zombo-Americans, who need the assistance of spirit-channeling illegal immigrants to go to the polls?

Voting the dead is a byproduct of the real fraud.

Dems vote the people who didn't bother to show up to vote. They pull out the empty cards and 'punch' the number needed. That's why motor/voter and high registrations are important to them.

The ‘dead’ accidentally get included in that group. In Florida - in the old days - they would take an ice pick and hammer to knock out the chads.

Cheating typically took place in black neighborhoods - and was marked by 'late' arrivals of votes to the 'counting' centers. Dem cheaters didn't want the race to look rigged so they would wait to see how many votes were 'needed' before the ballots were handed in.

Want to catch them cheating? Set up security cameras in important districts and count the number of people going into the polling places - then 'count' the official number of people who voted.

The “crawl” on FNC says that the DOJ is suing because Florida wants to remove non-citizen voter from their rolls. Since it is against the law for a non-citizen to vote, Eric Holder is a criminal and needs to be thrown in prison.

Local or state, its along with voting in general certantly has nothing to do with the Federal Government. This article is dead wrong on that.

Voter Fraud is NOT a federal responsibly nor even legitimate capability. Illegal immigration is a federal responsibly & capability.

Voting including but not limited to voter fraud has nothing to do with Washington period end of story. Anytime and everytime Washington as butt its ugly head into Voting issues including the aforementioned acts which Obama is trying to uses against Florida it has userped the rights of the people and their states to self government.

We have an electoral cottage and allocated Federal Senate and house seats that effectily isolate each of the 50 states to allow them to run their own internal voting schemes.

Washington can never have a legitimate right to interferon. A republican government is NOT a pure democracy!
