The AFL-CIO has told Washington Whispers it will redeploy funds away from political candidates smack dab in the middle of election season, the latest sign that the largest federation of unions in the country could be becoming increasingly disillusioned with President Obama.
The federation says the shift has been in the works for months, and had nothing to do with the president's failure to show in Wisconsin last week, where labor unions led a failed recall election of Governor Scott Walker.
"We wanted to start investing our funds in our own infrastructure and advocacy," AFL-CIO spokesman Josh Goldstein told Whispers. "There will be less contributions to candidates," including President Obama.
While there were "a lot of different opinions" about whether Obama should have gone to Wisconsin, according to Goldstein, "this is not a slight at the president."

I have the same feeling. This thing is collapsing on Obama. He is all but unelectable at this point in November, and it is looking like he could pull the entire party down with him.
I am wondering now if Hillary enters is she would have a chance, or whether it just might be done to help salvage seats in the Senate and House.
The private sector unions see the writing on the wall...
Their fight is at the state level keeping right to work legislation from becoming reality...in many states
They are smart enough to know the Fed cannot help them so giving Obama money is pretty much throwing it away...
I remain skeptical, I can't see them pulling a Lautenberg at this point, it is a logistic nightmare and IMHO they loose the American of African Decent vote forever if they do.
They have screwed the pooch with running this horse and they are gonna have to suck it up until November. Besides IMHO he won't leave the whole Malignant Narcissism thing ya know...
I’m wondering if this was a chesspiece type move to get funds available to support/persuade hillary to run.
I suggest Republicans start looking into union pension funds & if necessary initiate legislation to make sure they are fully funded before unions can spend dues money on ‘outside activities’. That would slow some of these guys down.

True, but this is a seismic shift in the campaign landscape. The likelihood of Obama not being the candidate is miniscule, but Biden adds nothing, is universally acknowledged as a doofus, and could be easily replaced with someone who has broad appeal with white working class union people. I’m not sure that is even a remote possibility of Biden actually being replaced either, but I’m sure there are whispers of the sort. Just pray that Obama’s slide continues, and the next 21 weeks should be very interesting!

Unions have been losing popularity and jobs, (in tough times there is no shortage of non-union applicants who are ready, able, and willing to work) and even the management has got to see that if there is no rank and file to pay dues, sooner or later they won't have enough cash flow to 'operate'.
Wisconsin is just the beginning of the end for people working in the Public Sector using our money to lobby for more of our money.
Pssst-it’s only a threat. After all these years of funding the dems, the unions are not about to tell their members to support conservatives. Then again, maybe the union bosses are ready to cut their losses, take whatever money remains, and RUN.
Unions are in their final death-battle. They are gonna tug at Obama’s shorthairs until he implements Card Check by executive order. That’s the only thing that will reverse their long decline, enforced membership.
Really, the 'Black Vote' is highly overrated. Their entire population is only about 14% of the populace, and that's counting babies, older children and the aged and infirm. Of that group, how many actually show up at the polls on election day? They may be concentrated in urban areas, but as for the rest of the country, they are relatively diluted to the point of being just another vote in a sea of electorate. That's one reason the Democrat Party had really ignored them for decades, politically, because targeting funds to a small group of people that will essentially be in your back pocket is not efficient use of funds. ....
Hillary would be the better president between the two, just saying.
The Clinton’s know Obama will lose and lose big this year. Hill is not going to put her political future at risk for a losing ticket.
After Obama loses and the tsunami sweeps away numerous other dems they Clinton’s will come back to rescue ‘their’ party. The dems will have to suffer (from the Clinton POV) for picking the narcissist over Hill in 2008.
You can count on that but it won't work. When it comes to this the press will have written him off and will describe it as a desperate move.

Possibly, but don’t you think that Hillary is nearing her expiration date? In 2016 she’ll be pushing 70.
