Delegates Heading to Tampa Sue the GOP

The federal lawsuit, filed this week in U.S. District Court in California demands the delegates be freed to "vote their conscience" for presidential nominee at the party's August national convention in Tampa, Fla., rather than being "bound" to vote for a certain candidate, as many state party bylaws require, based on the primary elections and other delegate selection procedures. Courthouse News Service reports at least another 40 additional national convention delegates have asked to join the lawsuit which would bring the total to 160 Delegates.
Yet striking down party rules that bind candidates to vote in accordance with the primary process could suddenly open up the nomination to another campaign season, as presidential hopefuls could attempt to sway the elected delegates to their side, a potentiality Gilbert recognizes.

As I have always said, this election is the GOP’s to lose. If they keep up this crap, they will.

What did Romney expect after his scorched earth campaign? one of his staffers stated they not only wanted to beat Newt..they wanted to destroy him. Many of the Santorum, Newt and Paul supporters are not happy.
“The Republican National Committee and its chairman have been aiding the Governor Romney campaign for at least six months, the lawsuit asserts. The RNC and its chairman, defendant Reince Priebus, have
combined with a particular candidate with all of the aid the RNC can possibly, but improperly give
to obstruct, intimidate and harass delegates from voting their conscience.
Also I noticed that Sarah Palin made an interesting comment..it is at the end of the article.

LOL they're going to whine about a rule change now?
The Michigan Republican Party (MRP) Credentials Committee voted 4-2 last night to give Mitt Romney both of the state's at-large delegates, State Policy Committee Chair Mike Cox told MIRS today.
Cox was one of two "no" votes on the committee which met via telephone, along with attorney Eric Doster The "yes" votes included GOP National Committeeman Saul Anuzis, a Romney supporter, and MRP Chair Bobby Schostak.
That would put the delegate split at 16 for Romney and 14 for Rick Santorum, after each candidate won 14 delegates apiece in those divided by Michigan's 14 congressional districts.
As MIRS first reported on Wednesday, the MRP was delaying a final decision on the delegate split until after consulting with attorneys.
Cox said that according to the MRP rules, Santorum and Romney should each get one of Michigan's two at-large delegates based on their take of the popular vote.
"I supported Mitt, but the vote was clearly wrong," Cox said of the Credentials Committee. "It's kind of like Third World voting. We published rules and then we voted to change the rules."
Because The Narrative Cannot Survive A Rewrite
And Saul Anuzis has been since thrown out of his national committee chair and replaced by a conservative. LOL

I bet someone has finally done some polls and see that a good percentage of conservatives are not voting for romney. Glad to see their might be a way out of the bad choices we have. Liberal one and liberal two.

So we’re going to let a judge dictate how Repubs choose their candidates. Last time we let the press do it. Now lets let the court do it.
This is mischief, probably paid for by Soros. If it isn’t Soros, he has a bunch of people out there working for him for free.

It might be nice to have a conservative candidate. It might be nice to have a real convention. In a better time, these conventions weren't as scripted as a WWWE wrestling match.

I don’t even remember what it is like to vote for someone because I believed he/she was the best choice. Not with Bush, not with McCain and certainly not with Romney. Maybe I’m just asking for too much - you know, like a conservative candidate.

The funny thing is that Mitt St. Jesus is going to share a Tampa hotel floor with a bunch of people who don’t like him much. Michigan got first choice VIP treatment and is loaded with tea partiers and Paul fans.

I agree with you. The non-gop-primary was nothing but a lovefest by the GOPe for Romney, with the media on the sidelines cheerleading. It would be nice to have a real conservative to vote for, hell it would be nice to have a candidate that wasn’t chosen by the political elite.

We won!!!
When the Convention Chairman, Brooks Patterson, came out to announce the outcome, he introduced Saul Anuzis as the next podium speaker, and I felt immediate disappointment, which was short lived...Anuzis then introduces Dave Agema as the new RNC Committeeman, and the room exploded in the loudest, most prolonged ovation and demonstration of the day....We had made our presence felt in a significant way, and the confirmed election on Terry Lynn Land as Committeewoman was almost an afterthought...We had successfully replaced both representatives from Michigan to the National Committee, our message to the State powerbrokers could not be more clearly stated...."Your time is up, it's our turn!"...
Michigan's conservative movement made huge strides over the weekend, and the message is now guaranteed to be carried to Tampa and Washington D.C...As I left the floor at Cobo, a long line of conservative activists were manning the railing behind the delegate area, exchanging "high-fives" with everyone as they left....we had legitimately proven we could beat the establishment at their own game, using their own rules...it was a marvelous feeling...Michigan has set the tone for the national convention, let's hope the nation is watching...

I have helped several times with campaigns in the past; Rick this year, but really don’t know anything about how everything works. I was selected to be a state delegate, but bowed out because I won’t back romney. Does this mean, we will have another choice besides romney at the convention? Maybe a conservative?

"According to two sources from the unofficial "Ron Paul" convention, at last count 31 of 44 delegates and alternates that could be confirmed were Ron Paul supporters...This, if true, presents the GOP a major problem in Tampa regardless of the Presidential primary outcome, true conservatism will be represented at the Convention, and will have to be acknowledged and accommodated in some manner..."
Wow! Have the Paul supporters done similarly in other states? If so the convention could be very interesting this year! ;-)

While you have a point and rules use to be rules, the natives are restless and have figured out that the convention is a coronation, the process is rigged and the delegates are there as the dupes to pull it all off, usually wearing large and hidious hats and blowing horns.
These delegates are grassroots, foot their own bill to get there and are not all rich. This year, it happens that they’re mad as hell and not going to take it anymore.

And under what jurisdiction does a Court have to overrule the internal by-laws of a political party? Did they have a separate contract guaranteeing them the right to not follow the by-laws that would allow them to have a cause of action? This makes no sense to file a lawsuit.

I noticed from the very beginning how assured Rove was that Romney had the “organization”. I am absolutely convinced Rove was in bed with Priebus and the RNC. Santorum, Perry, Newt are not ignorant men but they didnt even make it on the Virginia ballot? Fla changed their primary rules? the entire primary season was hell to watch.
You know I felt like I was watching elections orchestrated by the DU.

READ IT AGAIN! Sarah Palin DID NOT SAY ANYTHING.
The guy being interviewed said as below, "say Sarah Palin" is an expression, "as an example Sarah Palin".
The quote from the article is below:
"If the judge rules in our favor, I won't be surprised if three or four new candidates, say Sarah Palin, jump in and say they want to be considered," Gilbert told Courthouse News. âIt will be the most interesting national convention in my lifetime if the judge rules for us on this."
First of all Sarah Palin is NOT stupid to jump into this self-destructive frey. Second of all, I wonder about this Gilbert guy -- don't forget that Dems ran phony tea-party candidates in some GOP elections, this smells like another one of those operations. The ONLY outcome would be re-election of Obama.
