Is there any other kind? A paid musician is a vanity of the rich - be it an individual or a society.
Maybe there is something productive you could do on the side.
Look likes the Free Republic A-Hole Society has decreed that society should have no paid free enterprising musicians. Maybe Tyrant Bloomberg can appoint you two as cabinet officers in his No Big Sodas or Paid Musicians Department.

You can make as much money as Michael Jackson or Whitney Houston in that profession. God bless ya if you do. No skin off my rosy red nose. But when you blow it all and you’re Rick James in a crackhouse, then what can I tell you. And when the world goes Mad Max like Greece almost did, and you can live as a minstrel only so far as you amuse your lord; again, I don’t have a bottomless wellspring of sympathy.
