Carl Ericsson Sentenced To Life For 50-Year-Old Grudge Murder (of high school bully)
The Inquisitr ^ | June 16, 2012

Posted on 06/16/2012 7:52:54 PM PDT by Clintonfatigued

Carl Ericsson was sentenced to life in prison under the “guilty but sane” conviction he received for the murder of his high school classmate Norman Johnson.

Ericsson only stated that a 1950s locker room incident featuring a jockstrap being pulled over his head has festered for more than 50 years, leading to the murder of Johnson in Madison, South Dakota, according to The Huffington Post. Ericsson’s lawyer, Kenneth Mayer, stated:

“He said that a jockstrap was put on his head. It’s the only thing he’s ever mentioned in talking to law enforcement.”

The 73-year-old man pleaded not guilty in the shooting of his former classmate, but a deal was reached before the case went to trial. A first degree murder charge in South Dakota can carry a death penalty sentence, according to AJC. Ericsson only stated that:

“I guess it was from something that happened over 50 years ago. It was apparently in my subconscious.”

That was a line from Fargo describing Buscemi’s character.

Buscemi was a NY city fire fighter before he got his break in acting. The day after 9/11, he went back and volunteered on 12 hours shifts for a week to work with his old partners and help clear the rubble.

Sane? I don’t think so. Not after 50 years.

I have often posted that some schools are so horrific that it would be better for the child to never attend.

It seems to be the case for this man.

Once again putting the blame in the wrong place. Did the school bully him? No it was an individual.

Did the school cause him to carry a grudge for FIFTY years? No obviously there was more to it than just that one incident.

You really got to find a new hobby. This one note Johnny stuff is really wearing thin on us thinking Freepers.

I'm getting a little worried now.

I just want Jerry Coleman to know that it wasn't me what sprayed Red Hot in his jock.

It must have been someone who kinda looked like me.

Did the school bully him?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

In many ways, the typical Prussian-model school resembles a compulsory prison for children whose only crime was to have the audacity to be born.

If the government treats children like prisoners we shouldn't be surprised to see prison social pathology in the form of bullying, social hierarchies ( alpha girls and boys) and in the formation of protection gangs ( cliques). Just as in an adult prison, I expect that teachers and principals develop a blind eye to these pathologies because just as in a hard-core prison it helps them to control the inmates. I not holding my breath for the Marxist dominated colleges of education or sociology to study the matter. Hey! Why should they? The results would put many of a job.

For the same reason no one studies the prison social pathology found in our prison-like government schools, no one in these colleges of education or sociology has ever studied if government schools teach anything. NO ONE knows how much learning happens in the classroom ( likely NONE) as compared to what is acquired IN THE HOME due to the hard work of the parents, the child ( himself) doing homework and projects, and/or privately paid for tutoring.

So?....If I am wrong. Post the links to the studies. You're the professional teacher. You should be immediately able to access these studies. They should be that familiar to you since this information would be a fundamental part of your professional knowledge and skill base.

There are schools that are soooo dangerous that **seriously** it would be better for the child **never** to attend. It would be better for the child to stay home eating Pringles and playing video games with his welfare mama than to be bullied to the brink of suicide, maimed, scarred, crippled or killed.

Illiteracy and innumeracy can be fixed. Dead or permanently scarred, crippled, or dead can't be.

And....There is NO proof that prison-like schools teach anything. Really, there aren't! No one knows, after up to $30,000/per kid/per year and years of prisoner-like mental abuse for the child, if these schools actually teach anything!!! It is very likely that any child who is educated that his education was entirely due to the **AFTERSCHOOLING*** done by the parents, the child himself (doing home assignments and projects), and tutoring ( paid or unpaid) acquired by the parents!

William Bennett, and for crying out nothing you have to say is so important that it can't be condensed into one post.

BTW I assume that you did see the study I already posted to you, but you must be ignoring since it blows your argument out of the water

——If the government treats children like prisoners we shouldn’t be surprised to see prison social pathology in the form of bullying, social hierarchies ( alpha girls and boys) and in the formation of protection gangs ( cliques——

This hardly needs explanation. Has anyone seen or experienced school-level bullying in any other walk of life? Work? Play? Church? Shopping? The Rotary Club?

Many children live under the constant threat of violence. I attended a wealthy suburb with the proverbial “great school system” in the seventies. One small kid had his books dumped and kicked down the hall on a daily basis.

Does this happen at work?

He was discretely punched hard on the shoulder every day.

Does this happen to you around town?

I took a bloody nose for a mildly retarded kid who was being attacked by a pack of kids in elementary school. I turned away from the same situation in junior high, because the bullies were much bigger.

Yet the teachers looked the other way, as did I and the other students, to our everlasting shame.

No amount of judo classes would have helped this kid. He only needed to escape.

That people can justify this system of children’s prisons disgusts me, and I’m sick to death of the rationalizations.

And one more thing. One of my daughter’s 13-yr-old friends attempted suicide by swallowing a bottle of Tylenol due to school and Facebook bullying (”where’s your real mother?”). Another was hospitalized in a psychiatric institution for a month due to anxiety caused by bullying.

Yeah, keep rationalizing the free babysitting. /spit

I thought you may have been referring to Star Trek "Wrath of khan".

Khan refers to an old klingon proverb "revenge is a dish that is best served cold".

Still funny!
