Noonan: Who Benefits From the 'Avalanche of Leaks'?
WSJ Online ^ | 6/15/2012 | Peggy Noonan

Posted on 06/17/2012 4:58:31 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

What is happening with all these breaches of our national security? Why are intelligence professionals talking so much—divulging secret and sensitive information for all the world to see, and for our adversaries to contemplate?

In the past few months we have read that the U.S. penetrated al Qaeda in Yemen and foiled a terror plot; that the Stuxnet cyberworm, which caused chaos in the Iranian nuclear program, was a joint Israeli-American operation; and that President Obama personally approves every name on an expanding "kill list" of those targeted and removed from life by unmanned drones. According to the New York Times, Mr. Obama pores over "suspects' biographies" in "what one official calls 'the macabre 'baseball cards' of an unconventional war."

From David Sanger's new book, "Confront and Conceal: Obama's Secret Wars and Surprising Use of American Power," we learn that Stuxnet was "the most sophisticated, complex cyberattack the United States had ever launched." Its secret name was "Olympic Games." America and Israel developed the "malicious software" together, the U.S. at Fort Meade, Md., where it keeps "computer warriors," Israel at a military intelligence agency it "barely acknowledges exists."

Funny, I used to think Peggy had a brain.

This woman and people like her are the reason that this Marxist is in the White house.

Too bad Captain Obvious wasn’t around for Peggy a few years ago. I believe smarter folks tried to warn her what that election would mean for this country.

Who benefits?
That is not a mystery. In all these stories, it is the president and his campaign that benefit.

No news here.

Yep.

And I am hoping this awakening is not just confined to her.

I never saw that until now. Seething anew here. Gutting security from within. I cannot post further words...

The damage this fraud and his posse have and will do will not be repaired for decades to come if we have the stomach for it. There are things we know and things we do not, the donot’s are going to be monumental and we can only hope that we will bring these bastards to justice in the future. I somehow feel the spineless will remain such and we will skip merrily down the road without a care in the world while the raoches scurry to all corners when we turn on the lights.

It is amazing that in this economy, a brain damaged writer can still hold on to her job!

I like the Captain Obvious. LOL

Ask yourself a question Peggy.

If he wanted to destroy the country, what would he do different?

I agree with Sue. I think, as Noonan points out in the article, that these leaks, especially the kill list, make President Obama look creepy. The only true beneficiary of these leaks is the enemy. Now, Obama, as the enemy, does benefit if he has grandiose plans for himself after the destruction of America.

Obama is a self-possessed, self-serving sociopath (recall “We are what we have been waiting for” translate “I am what you have been waiting for” & more recently “Celebrities must save America” translate “Celebrities must save me”). Anything that will make him look re-electable is something he will pursue regardless of the damage it does to America. He doesn’t give a damn about compromising the security of America, only about himself and what will further his radical agenda. He needs 4 more years to complete the transformation unhindered by the need for re-election. All of these leaks point to Vice-President Joe Biden as the source and are consistent with his past actions and inability to keep is mouth shut. Only in this case it is by design and with the full approval of Obama.

Why are intelligence professionals talking so much —divulging secret and sensitive information for all the world to see, and for our adversaries to contemplate?

well, Peggy, for starters these are not "Intelligence professionals"

They are political cronies, money bundlers, leftist hacks and shallow self-important braggarts appointed by obama into national security positions, like Tom Donilon and John Brennan

Most (none) of them could pass a bonafide security clearance check if they had to apply - which as appointed hacks, they don't...ditto with our very own president select

These people are hostile to the intelligence community because it represents an America they dislike or worse.

They don't see keeping secrets as protecting our nation from an enemy

If you are hostile to a nation (as they are to the USA and out allies like Israel and Britain)) then you are hostile to its intelligence services (and those of our allies)

you see classification of sensitive information as an effort by a flawed nation or conservative corruptocrats to hide wrongdoing, not to protect our citizens from an "enemy". In yr view, the enemies of America are justified to hate us for who we are and what we have doen to them ...so you have a chance to help them

Like Daniel Ellsberg and his Pentagon Papers, you see it as noble to blow the lid off classified information, especially if you disagree with it. Plus it shows some NYT wanker you are important, and it makes "the boss" Barry look tough.

So what's not to enjoy about leaking intelligence to the NYT. Plus they buy you dinner and drinks?

Profound difference between these people and "intelligence professionals"

Obama is about a 14 year old boy maturity wise - typical for a formerly abandoned youth.

With the awesome power of the presidency, this is mindblowing. If you wonder what a resentful 14 year old boy would do with America's arsenal and armed forces at his disposal, yes, you'd get a creepy, adolescent playing "World at War" "Delta Command" or whatever the latest Nintendo wargaming video is out there - and that's what he's up to all day and night.

When he's not "blowin shit up" he's watching Sports Center and NCAA "Hoops" and WNBA - this is also known and also typical.

On the financial side, he and his wife have the "company credit card" without the obligation to fill out expense reports and submit for approval to the CFO. Imagine your 14 year old kids with your platinum AMEX card and no oversight-times a million.

On the work side, Obama is the typical 14 year old little punk that thinks he has seen everything, done everything and has all the answers. He thinks he should just be able to tell everyone else what to do and how to do it even though he has absolutely no freaking clue what he's doing.

There's not much wrong with Master Obama that a good spanking wouldn't fix. He is beyond unqualified for any post except sweeping some floor somewhere. Why he hasn't been impeached for gross incompetence says more about our mid level managers in Congress than it does about him.

I used to buy into the meme that "Obama is a moslem" "Obama knows exactly what he's doing" etc. etc.

Obama aint even smart enough to know how to spell moslem. Jarrett? yes, probably and we know that Hillary's beard (Huma Abedin) has extensive MB connections. Has the WH been infiltrated by MB? yes, but IMO, Obama is too stupid to organize that. Someone else did.
