SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) A gun protest outside a Southfield gun store had more gun rights advocates show up than protestors.
It was one of several such rallies that took place around the country Saturday; all backed by the Reverend Jesse Jackson.
Outside Action Impact Gun Shop in Southfield only a few protestors showed up.
Donell Webb of Southfield addressed protestors saying hes an Afghan vet.
I shouldnt have to ride around with my piece in my hand I got one hand on the steering wheel and I got one hand on my glock is a veteran of the Afghan war, he says
Kay Hallen of Southfield is opposed to the proliferation of guns; If guns become an expression of frustration guns in themselves are not the problem to me, when they become an expression of frustration then our kids deny themselves a future.
Rick Eckler is a gun rights activist.
This is a legal gun store, and hes going after a legal gun store? How about going after the guys that have the illegal guns the criminals, not the good guys, said Eckler.
Meantime a rally organizer, Reverend David Bullock of Rainbow Push Detroit disagrees.
We are seeing violence go up, we are seeing CCWs go up. So that means there is armament going on in our society, and so on one side youve got legal gun owners on the other side youve got illegal gun owners and ultimately thats leads to potentially to confrontation, said Bullock. Confrontation leads to violence.
The Southfield protest was one of many being held around the country by Rainbow Push. Bullock says theyre praying for peace.
Still, we are winning when more Constitutionalists show up than anti-freedom protestors.
Detroit’s the problem, not the guns.
“...on one side youve got legal gun owners on the other side youve got illegal gun owners and ultimately thats leads to potentially to confrontation...”
Do these people ever THINK about what they’re saying? Their logic is breath-taking.
If Jesse’s fleabaggers really want to go after a scumbag gun dealer who services criminals, and enables the slaughter of innocents, they would go after Eric Holder.
They are being logical. It is just that their fundamental assumptions about the nature of reality are false. If you have false assumptions, it is hard for you to reach correct conclusions, no matter how smart or logical you are.
The fundamental false assumption here is that people are not responsible for their actions, so when bad things happen, the fault can be laid at the feet of objects.
Yeah, I noticed that too...
We are seeing violence go up, we are seeing CCWs go up.”
Absolutley, it’s a fact, when violence increases in a community people arm themselves to protect thewmselves, their families and their property. There should be NO taxes on firearms or ammunition, there should be NO permit required to carry concealed, only very harsh and long prison terms for carrying if you have done something to lose your right to own and carry a firearm. Anyone who has not lost the right to own should be able to opewn a store and sell firearms and ammunition with NO special federal, state, city or county license or permit other than what is required for any other business.
Violence is neutral, like gravity, it can be used for good or ill.
