While Congress retains its “inherent contempt” authority and may exercise it at any time, this inherent contempt process was last used by the Senate in 1934, in a Senate investigation of airlines and the U.S. Postmaster. After a one-week trial on the Senate floor (presided over by the Vice-President of the United States, acting as Senate President), William P. MacCracken, a lawyer and former Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Aeronautics who had allowed clients to rip up subpoenaed documents, was found guilty and sentenced to 10 days imprisonment.

MacCracken filed a petition of habeas corpus in federal courts to overturn his arrest, but after litigation, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Congress had acted constitutionally, and denied the petition in the case Jurney v. MacCracken.

Yeah, a contempt vote looks likely now. BUT have you noticed that from the very beginning of his reign Holder has blatantly violated laws and abdicated his primary responsibility by selectively enforcing laws, which, as it's turned out, are all race-based decisions? He's incurred no consequences yet. Guessing he skates again with a lot of congressional noise and a slap on the wrist at best.

It's all very much like his boss who runs afoul of the Constitution and seemingly does so with impunity. Where are the impeachment articles (articals)?

It doesn’t matter. The Constitution is dead. The rule of law is dead. We are not longer a Republic or a Democracy. We have Toltarian government. The results of the elction won’t matter. Even if he loses 0bama will simply sign an executive order establishing himself Leader for life.

But Issa said, “Today, the Attorney General informed us that the Department would not be producing those documents. The only offer they made involved us ending our investigation.”

...Appears the thug top cop made an offer that Issa shouldn’t refuse.

Holder was quoted in a Foxnews article that he made a “good offer”.

WTF? A good offer? A border agent is dead!

Great quote but has a little Jeffrey Dahmer tang to it...

OK, you got that quote from Wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contempt_of_Congress

That is the last time any sort of punishment has been given. Farther down that same article on Wiki, it gives a list of what has happened in contempt cases since 1975. Bottom line: most have complied, and only one (Rita Lavelle, a Republican) has suffered any punishment.

Conclusion: Nothing will be done to Holder.

what happens to him if he’s held in contempt?

A) The media ignores it and doesn’t report it. Instead they run a breaking story about something Romney did in kindergarten or run more stories about Romneys wife riding horses.

B) (more likely) The media has a field day condemning Republicans for their racist attack against Holder.

Can we believe this 50th threat to hold contempt vote....

Of course we can’t believe it. A last minute deal will be made tonight to give Holder more time. Guaranteed. Can you imagine the circus the media would create if Republicans held a BLACK AG in contempt of Congress? A contempt charge against Holder is NOT going to happen. It’s a bluff and Holder knows it.

Yeah, Issa ends his investigation and the libturds will refrain from calling GOPers racists...

Who’s telling the truth here...

“But Holder said after the brief session that Issa rejected his proposal to allow the committee to “review” the documents first, predicting that it would persuade them to not go ahead with the contempt vote, now set for 10 a.m. Wednesday. Issa contends Holder made no such offer.”
