House committee suspects ‘Fast and Furious’ cover-up (Duh)
Washington Times ^ | 06/22/12 | Jerry Seper

Posted on 06/22/2012 9:01:26 AM PDT by MissesBush

The House committee investigating Fast and Furious has received more than 7,600 documents from the Justice Department, but Republican lawmakers say none addresses who approved the gunrunning probe, who failed to stop it before a U.S. Border Patrol agent was killed and why department officials initially lied to Congress about it.

Now the panel has its sights set on an additional 1,300 pages of documents it believes will answer those questions and also expose a political cover-up at Justice.

Nevertheless, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee's quest for records got more complicated this week when President Obama asserted executive privilege and refused to turn them over — and the committee in turn voted to recommend holding Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. in contempt of Congress.

Together, they are the crux of what has become the biggest separation-of-powers battle of the Obama administration.

House Speaker John A. Boehner said Thursday that the president's play proves the White House was involved in the cover-up.

"The decision to invoke executive privilege is an admission that White House officials were involved in decisions that misled the Congress and have covered up the truth," the Ohio Republican told reporters. "So what is the Obama administration hiding in Fast and Furious?"

White House press secretary Jay Carney called the House committee's investigation and its party-line vote on Wednesday for a contempt of Congress citation a "fishing expedition," adding that it was "unnecessary and unworthy of Congress."

Mr. Carney said Justice has "provided Congress every document" that pertains to the Fast and Furious operation itself.

"Hogwash," said Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa... "Through my investigation, I know there are reams of documents related to the 'operation itself' that the Justice Department has refused to turn over to Congress."

The Democrat's organ grinder monkey in the media made Bush's exercising his right of hire and fire over fewer than 10 underperforming US attorneys the scandal of the new century--something that utterly came to naught and was just shown to be a Waxman/media smear campaign against the Bush administration. But the media barely utters a peep about Fast and Furious other than to play Jay Carney's nonsensical spin spewing saying it's all a partisan witch hunt. When does the media begin to be held accountable by the American public for its utter dereliction in refusing to bring to light the Obama administration's misdeeds?

Not the sharpest tacks in the bucket I’d say. The problem with our euniched Republican old timers is that they have become accustomed to their second-tier power status in DC, even though they control the House. Under any control balance, they know they can get their perks, their retirements, their consulting and speaking engagements.

They’ve lost touch with real America. The real America that screams at the TV and radio incessantly. A bunch of tone-deaf, ball-less wonders who’ve lost their damned backbones.

OF COURSE, there’s a cover-up. There’s also stonewalling, outright lying and a bogus claim of “executive privilege”.

Obama needs to resign and his henchmen need to go to jail.

Most of them don’t know as much about current events as the average Freeper. They depend on aides and interns to do their research, and then focus only on a few issues.

Horrible headline from the Times. Equally appalling lead. If the author had set out to carry Obama’s water, he couldn’t have done any better.

When the criminal trial of Holder et al proceeds after the inauguration of Mitt Romney in Jan 2013...then the MSM will start it’s meme of “we were bambaoozled by Obama”.

It's gonna be awhile. A good deal more than replacing the 'R' keys will have to first be attended to before any criminal trial of the withHolder.
