Yes, there are several changes in the incumbent districts! I was in Bill Young's district 10, but now in district 14. I also believe Bill Young is safe. I will be helping the Republican winner in District 14 to defeat Betty Castor in November!

Dr. Dave Weldon was a good representative. He was in office 8 (?) years, and in that length of time, he only voted in a way different from what I would have maybe 3 times. He hasn't had the publicity the others have, but he would be a good senator. He knows the problems with ObamaCare, and has vowed to over-turn it.

Don't blame you. Sure many in your District 7 like both Sandy Adams and John Mica. Be sure to check to make sure you are still in District 7. If you voted for Sandy Adams in 2010 you were in District 24. John Mica was also in District 7 in 2010.

The easy way for everyone in FL to check their Congressional District for 2012 is to go to your County Supervisor of Elections website and put in your address to check your Congressional District. District lines cross through more than one County, to your address is the only way to know your District for sure. Here is the link. Just click on your particular County.

I too was under Young. I met him a few times, seemed affable enough, but he’s def. one of those lifetimers that should probably be rotated out. I know a few people who’ve tried to run against him, but he’s got a real campaign machine behind him.

Yes, Dave Weldon does have a very good background. I could be wrong but believe Weldon entered the race later than Connie Mack did. Mack has a large list of endorsements from the GOP so guess he believes he is the ultimate winner of the Primary. Perhaps that is why Mack has decided not to enter a debate with the other three candidates, McCalister, Stuart and Weldon.

Let's not forget the STATE HOUSE & SENATE elections! A good friend of mine is running for the seat in the newly created district 115. His name is Eugenio Perez and he's a former Marine and US Marshal, but he retired from the Federal Dept. of Corrections. He's led prison SWAT teams in (IIRC) three states. Great guy. He's a teacher, now. That's what we need in state government: A CONSERVATIVE EDUCATOR IN THE LEGISLATURE.

See my post #3 for info on District changes. If you voted for Lehtinen in 2010 you were in FL District 18. She is now running in District 27 and is unopposed. She will face DEM Manny Yevancey in November.

Perhaps your Congressional District is now District 27. Check at this link below. Click on your County (Monroe?)and put your address in at your Supervisor Of Elections website. Your District and Precinct information is there.
You may still be in Lehitinen’s District, and if so your new voter card will say District 27. Hubby and I went from District 10 to District 14!

Yes, I agree it is time for Bill Young to retire! He has been a popular Republican, however. He did become more of a spender of late. Last time around there was word he might retire in 2012, but see he is not. Probably good so his seat will be safe.

This is the time of the election year time-cycle when the name of every state's favorite son or daughter is thrown out by the GOP campaign machinery as a potential Veep candidate.

This allows second and third tier elected officials and other pols in many different states to get their names into the media, get into the spotlight, take bows, issue statements, raise some money and generally get their persona out there in public as someone who is really to be saluted and remembered because they're "being seriously considered for the Vice-Presidential spot on the upcoming ballot".

This phenomenom happens as regularly as the monsoon season in the tropics. You can bet every state is experiencing this age-old political routine as more than a few favorite congressmen, governors or mayors are being touted as "Veep material" on local TV and in area newspapers.

In short, many are ostensibly "called", but only one is chosen. It's all part of the game...but rather a nice game.

BTW, the Bilirakis' are an outstanding American family, conservative to the core, never any scandal, just service. Gus's dad, Mike Bilirakis, was my congressman for many years. He was a close friend of one of my political compadres and mentors, Cong. Henry Hyde of Illinois, the renowned pro-life advocate and enthusiastic singer of Irish songs in a local pub where the pols were wont to drop in now and then.

These men, one retired, one passed away, along with today's candidate, young Bilirakis, are the kind of public servants rarely seen today. I'll be casting my conservative vote for Gus Bilirakis on election day....with the greatest of pride and pleasure.

Only 12 more days to our Florida Primary Election! Any interesting information you have about Primary candidates in your District would be great to post on this thread.

My hubby and I have chosen our favorites who will get our votes in our District 14 Primary. Wonder if anyone in our 26 other Districts have learned about the candidates running and have made their decision on who they are voting for?

Anyone who is in state house dist 100 can vote in the dem primary as there are no write ins or pubbies in the race so in reality the election IS the primary. Awhile ago I noticed there was no mention of the 2nd Amendment on Weldon's official site and I emailed him the question that essentially said if he wasn't speaking about the critical importance of the Second Amendment to the Bill of Rights, why should I vote for him as a life member of the NRA and an NRA certified Instructor for these last 25 years? To my surprise he emailed me back personally and apologized. He said he'd directed the campaign staff to rectify this oversight and lo ..... THEY DID. I have a lot more respect for this guy now. I may well vote for him.

REMINDER!

For those Forida voters who might not have checked your county Supervisor Of Elections websites!

Your Congressional District may have changed. That could also mean your voting Precinct may have also changed. My Congressional District changed from District 10 to District 14, but just so happens my voting Precinct did not change.

Be sure to check your Congressional District at this site.
Click on your county which will take you to your County Supervisor of Elections website. Then find your sample ballot, possible District changes, and Precinct location by putting in your address. It will then lead you to any changes and give you a copy of your ballot as it will appear when you go to vote on Tuesday. Here is the link:
