Poll: Obama opens up wide lead among Hispanics (Obama 66, Romney 25)
Washington Times ^ | 06/25/2012 | By Seth McLaughlin

A new USA Today-Gallup poll shows that President Obama holds a big lead among Hispanic voters in his general election matchup against presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney — and that unemployment and economic growth, not immigration, remain the top issues for these voters.

The survey of a random sample of 1,753 adults between April 16 and May 31 showed Mr. Obama leading Mr. Romney by a 66 percent to 25 percent margin.

"Given the current dampened support for Obama among non-Hispanic whites, Obama's ability to build support or, more specifically, registration and turnout, among Hispanics in 2012 is widely seen as critical to his ability to win re-election. Thus, both candidates are carefully wooing the Hispanic vote," by Lydia Saad wrote in the poll analysis.

The poll follows the president's decision to halt temporarily the deportation of some young illegal immigrant adults who were brought here through no fault of their own — a move that has put new pressure on Mr. Romney, who has refused to say whether he would leave the policy in place if elected. Mr. Romney instead has argued that Mr. Obama's policies have slowed the economic recovery and made it harder for Hispanics to find work.

The poll found that Hispanics are more concerned about the economy than immigration — and that Mr. Obama also leads among these voters. Among those who cite unemployment and economic growth, the Democrat leads the former Massachusetts governor by 25 percentage points or more. Mr. Obama also holds a 75-point lead among Hispanic voters whose top issue is the division between the rich and poor, by 50 or more points among those who cite health care and immigration policies.

I predict that Mr. Ozero loses half his Hispanic support once they tie him to 300 dead Mexicans.

Predicting it doesn't coast anything just don't bet on it because you will lose. But all is not lost, white citizens can still vote.

The BS we are offered by republicans that hispanics are culturally conservative is a load of crap. They don’t come here to be americans that come here to be mexicans in america riding in the wagon. Welfare roles are swelling, SSI is filling up, Government services are saturated, out of wedlock birds are sky high and crime is rife. You can’t even leave your garage door open because hispanic drive by shoppers will clean it out faster than you can blink and the police won’t even respond. In the ER they get treated before american citizens do. Its sickening to see your own governments place a higher value on hispanics for votes than that do for tax paying law abiding americans.

As I've said on countless threads, there are two important things about these polls:

1) The % is irrelevant if the fervor and intensity is down. I predict that black intensity, for example, will be marginally down, but enough to make a difference. I predict with much more confidence that youth intensity (18-25) will be waaaay down. (The % there is also down 25% from 2008) So, if the %s are high, but total numbers voting is low, % is somewhat irrelevant.

2) the "key state" polls are more troubling, but still, AZ doesn't count. Romney won't lose AZ. There are four states where it may count: NV, CO, NM, and VA---the latter being the one where Hispanics would influence the election the least.

None of it makes a whit of difference if Romney keeps widening his lead among whites and working Americans. No one can with the presidency without winning that demo.

Overall, whites made up 76.3% of the record 131 million people who voted in November's 08 presidential election, while blacks made up 12.1%, Hispanics 7.4% and Asians 2.5%.

It sort of proves that the "family value" most important to them is getting as much free stuff provided by the gringos as possible, doesn't it?

And Romney hasn't exactly been a slackard in that category, has he?

These Lefty Polls are fakes and are an attempt to drive the idiot Romney to try to match BO’s hispandering which will depress the White American vote. Romney will fall for this, hide and watch the dumbass RNC GOPPERs.

” when we turned back Bush’s amnesty attempt thru phone campaigns ...that was the turning point here

now...nationally ...and with SCOTUS asserting Fed sovereignty over states in this matter for the most part

i fear it’s a fait accomnpli

if you have a Federal Government refusing to enforce immigration laws then States are limited in their ability to do something about it

even as Free Republic and white conservatives in general have become more informed and realistic about how most hispanics ..like Rubio...often vote minority self identity first

still hard to believe many here including quite a few early freepers thought amnesty was a good idea

problem is...not sure we can thwart it forever”

I agree. Not looking good in the long run.

Still think that by 2012 black turnout will be slightly down.
